This doctor screamed at me after I expressed frustration that my medications refills were not syncing up at once and I was missing doses. He told me "that's not my problem" and I said "that's a BS answer" and he proceeded to scream at me and fire me, a bipolar patient complaining about medication adherence, as a patient.

Paternalistic and Cold
Telehealth
He won’t work with you to make sure your needs are considered. He’ll bulldoze you. He makes up statistics and will quickly backtrack if you ask for the source. Classic doctor of yesteryear. A doctor with an ego

Years of experience do not trump empathy or kindness. Made me feel like garbage for having a mental illness and was ‘shocked to learn I had not ended up imprisoned’ despite zero mention of any crime or intent to commit a crime like ‘most people who have __ do’. I don’t know what the statistics are, but how does a practicing doctor allow these words to come out of their mouth especially in a mental health space. How you frame the things that are necessary to communicate to the patient is important and you leave your potentially damaging and not medically helpful or necessary opinions out of it. Said he never wants to retire and I hope and pray he doesn’t practice a day longer and retraumatize someone who has potentially had to endure a lot to even end up in his office in the first place.

Doctor Letourneau is the man.
I've been seeing Dr. Letourneau for nearly 5 years now. He provides perspective, honesty (including the kind you may not want to hear), and will not prescribe medications unless it's necessary. Speaking from experience, I have inquired about multiple meds, and he asked questions, gave a prognosis, and more often than not said "no" while recommending healthy lifestyle and behavioral adjustments. There are a few obvious false reviews on here: The Doc is not a "European psychiatrist," whatever that means. He's from the East Coast. I've never heard the words "Xanax" or "Seroquel" in the 50+ sessions I've had with him. Take 1 star reviews with a grain of salt. The Doc is highly regarded, and if you're looking for someone to provide guidance? Look no further.

I had Dr. Letourneau for a few years before he left for California. He's not a chit chat person. All business which is fine by me. I was happy with my visits and sorry he had to leave upstate New York.

Dr. Letourneau loves to give out controlled substances....For sleep he gives Seroquel and for panic attacks he gives Xanax. He is a European psychiatrist who believes that medications are the cure all.

It was one of the most detrimental medical encounters ever. I FELT intimidation, & fear [fight or flight stress]. His report confirmed my opinions & sixth sense. The report was incredibly well crafted in its detriment to me. Medical professionals helped explained report's contradictions & deceit. I spent time in therapy related to time in his office. He is a psychiatrist. He is trained, he knows what he is doing, w/ 35+ year experience. It seems do no harm, does not apply to "opinions"

So glad I found him. As someone else wrote" he gets it," - for me he did almost immediately. He has validated me. He does not mess around about the role I have to play in this illness. I like that very much. He gets Triple A+ for his skills from me. Jan
