Open Inguinal hernia repair
Dr. Beard does many open inguinal hernia repairs in central Oregon - he may do the most. Very experienced surgeon. He was recommended and referred by my internal medicine physician which (to me) says a lot. I did extensive research before my surgery on the different types of hernia repair. Dr. Beard answered all of my questions during the initial consultation, just before going into surgery at the Bend Surgery Center, and during the post-surgery follow up appointment. He was very mindful about post-operative pain control and did an excellent job controlling pain. Based on my experience, I would definitely go to him again.

If you ask me, Dr. Beard is a man's type of surgeon. He's quiet, does not say much and gets the job done. In my first interview with him, we might have exchanged 50 words. I appreciate the brevity and directness. Pre-op, he was just about the same, but ventured a desert dry joke. Most importantly, the surgery was quick and successful. The scar minimal and it's healed well. When I did asked for details about what he did at the follow up appointment, he went into them with alacrity. I would definitely come back to this guy.

I'm a little hesitant to relay my story with Dr. Beard but only out of respect for a previous reviewer. My experience with this doctor was good. I had my annual CT Scan done for my Oncologist and this time they saw something that did not look right. So my Oncologist sent me to Dr. Beard for an exam and consult. I was not experiencing any pain or discomfort and after my exam Dr. Beard concluded that there was nothing wrong at all. He was kind and respectful to me. 09-15-17 was my appt. date.

I am so disappointed with Dr. Beard. My father was misdiagnosed by this so-called "doctor"...his misdiagnosis ended up to be stage 2 cancer. Nice job! His bedside manner is unprofessional and he does not appear to care about his patients or follow through with caring about the long term outcomes. I would not recommend or trust Dr. Beard.
