Excruciating weeks long recovery
The radio frequency nerve ablation procedure I experienced was excruciating during, but especially AFTER. I experienced 5 abjectly miserable days of unending horrible nerve pain post-op, and intermittent unbearable pain for the following week. Percoset and Gabapentin barely helped. His nurse is abrupt, unsympathetic and rushed. Two other identical operations from other providers in 2022 and 2025 were uncomfortable for 2 or 3 days only. I wonder if Dr. Houden is using antiquated methodology. I would never ever recommend him as a pain management practitioner.

Never
I went to him suffering from siattica. Was told he would perform something called an epidural. He neither greeted me nor talked to me during the procedure. When he was finished with what was a very painful few minutes. He went back to his corner where he had been originally and left me in the hands of his assistants. I was not even given nor offered a wheelchair, although I could almost not walk. Stay away from this practice. His associate Mellville is the same no personality.

5 star service and experience
I was very pleased with the care and service provided by Dr. Houden. The procedure was painful momentarily but that is to be expected. A few minutes of being uncomfortable was worth resolving my chronic sciatic pain. The Dr. explained the procedure before, during, after as to what I could expect. I give my services a 5 star review. Thank you Dr. Houden and staff.

Horrible experience
I am extremely upset with the experience I had with Dr. Timothy Houden at Utah Spine Care-Ogden Clinic last week during my rhizotomy. I was told this was a minimally invasive procedure and I would be given medication to calm and relax me. It was apparent immediately that whatever medication was administered through my IV did not work. I was coherent and awake during the entire procedure and in excruciating pain. Because of the pain I was moaning and groaning hoping he would stop to see why I was in such pain. Dr. Houden seemed annoyed and upset that I did not just lay there and stay quiet. I felt belittled and demeaned. I have had 4 children and have never experienced pain like this before. Dr. Houden has no bedside manner. This must be the reason he just does procedures. I felt like I was on an assembly line and his goal was to get me out as fast as possible so he could do the next procedure on the next patient. He did not care and is completely apathetic.

The Dr performed two rhizotomy procedures on each side of my neck. The 3xperiencecwas very painful. I was prescribed additional medication for extended pain. My recovery was longer than his PA expected and with no relief. I’ve not returned. I have since been treated by another Spine Specialist, Orthopedist with excellent rhizotomy procedures and relief.

Amazing
Dr. Houden was awesome! He explained what he was doing and the shot was quick with minimal pain. By day 2 my arm pain and strength are already getting better. If you need an injection, Dr Houden is definitely your man!!!! I would 100% recommend him

Did great job, explained everything, kind, patient
Staff was kind and efficient. The whole experience was like a well orchestrated procedure. Everyone knew exactly what to do and when to do it. I was treat with great respect. I asked if I could have a sedative prior to the spinal injection to calm my nervousness and it was granted with no questions asked. They even offered to make a notation in my chart to give it if I ever needed another spinal injection at a later date.

The staff were friendly. I had two injections at the same time in my lower back for bulging disc putting pressure on my sciatic nerve. The shots did not help, and five days later I'm in extreme pain. I called in to express my condition, but was told to take Ibuprofen. The next scheduled app't is three weeks away....for physical therapy!! I can't even walk!! Not happy with the Doctor's nonchalance attitude.

Saw Dr. Houden for steriod injection at L5/S1 for severe nerve root impingement. His staff was professional, friendly, and though there was a small delay in getting seen due to my appointment being at the end of the day, Dr. Houden explained the procedure thoroughly, expressed care, and made me feel very comfortable during the whole procedure. I am seeking short-term relief and still planning on eventual surgery, but I would highly recommend this Dr.

Dr Houden is by and far the best doctor to see for treating back and spine pain with different injection techniques. His staff and nurse practitioner are very caring and a joy to see. Though he does run a very efficient shop he is the best at what he does and no other doctor around can match his knowledge and skill. I highly recommend him and he's the only doctor I would refer my family to for back/spine injection treatment.

Required to meet with nurse initially to assess/record my information, who took a personal phone call on her cell phone during my appointment. Was never introduced to Dr Houden until after he applied my first (and last) injection. Injection was given on opposite side of my neck where pain was actually occuring. When I asked afterwards why that occurred, received a blank stare, no response, explanation and no pain relief. Pursued referral to different Dr, had a very positive experience.

I have been seeing Dr Houden for over 15 years and recommend him often to people who might be candidates for rhisotomy. I do not choose my physicians to be my BFF, I choose them based on their ability and expertise. If you are looking for a Dr. who has a great bedside manner, Tim may not be for you, but he's got great support staff to fill that role for him. He is, however, the very best at pain management techniques to keep you moving and active. I cannot recommend him more highly.

Dr. Houden brushed off my concerns as if they meant nothing. He placed my epidural at McKay and I was worried about getting one due to the prior one hurting during placement and years after. I felt like he was too confident in himself to value what I had to say as a patient. I don't feel like he even took me serious at all. I felt that he was arrogant in his demeanor after still not willing to admit something wasn't right because he couldn't be wrong.
