Abandoned while needing urgent care
We have been seeing Dr Howard for ~15 years. Though not the most thorough doctor, he was adequate during stable times. However, this week, my husband is having a flare (worst of his life!), with pain so severe that he cannot eat, cannot sleep, cannot bear to be. We called 3 times begging for an appointment, and were only offered something weeks from now - in the midst of acute flare! We were told this is because he did not come during COVID - but my husband was stable and Dr Howard had no scheduled appointments with him, AND, with the 1 small flare had during COVID, my spouse was not permitted to make an appointment, being directed instead to his PCP. So, we did not leave, but they got rid of him, without letting us know! Desperate, he has seen his PCP & 2 orthopedic specialists this week, all of whom said he MUST see his rheumatologist. I explained this to Colleen, Dr Howard's practice manager; it was met with coldness and indifference. My husband is suffering and they will not help!

We have been seeing Dr. Howard for about 15 years. Though he is not very thorough and generally not excited about one's care, he has been adequate - but that was during times of stability. Now, we have a crisis, a SEVERE flare, causing my spouse terrible unrelenting pain and disability - he cannot sleep, he cannot eat, he cannot move the affected limb, and it is swollen easily to twice its normal size! The pain is excruciating - it's a full flare. We called once, twice, and three times this week, begging for an appointment. My spouse has seen him for 15 years. Yet, because he did not come during COVID, he's been dropped from the practice. It is very important to note that, with one exception, he was stable during that time and so did not have a doctor appointment at that time - the doctor never indicated that we were to come during that time or that we were to do follow-ups beyond the as-needed ones always had before (AND it is they who refused to schedule him during COVID when he had a small flare, referring him to his PCP instead during that time! - had they allowed us to come, my spouse would have still been "in" the practice). Now, the office refuses to schedule an urgent, or even a regular, appointment. They refuse to leave a message for the doctor. We were never informed that he was dropped, now leaving us with no one for his care, particularly during this urgent time - and dropped NOT because we backed out, but because the office did not schedule us during COVID (despite our request then), nor were there "regular" follow-ups since the doctor was only seeing him on an as need basis before anyway (and he was otherwise stable). Anyway, they have deleted him from the practice and are making him wait weeks for an appointment, that for something that is so severe that I know we will likely end up in the emergency room soon. He has seen his PCP, who feels this is so severe he needs to be seen by a specialist now. We have tried seeing two orthopedic specialists this week in desperate hope for help, since Dr Howard will not see him - they both say it HAS to be seen by his rheumatologist, now. I shared this with Colleen, Dr. Howard's practice manager. Instead, she was cold and indifferent. When asked where we could go, what options with other practices there might be, she was not helpful. I also reminded her that he cannot be abandoned, that a patient has a right to be informed of when they are dropped from a practice. She tells me I am wrong. if you want a lackluster but adequate doctor during stable times, and want absolutely NO care and abandonment during a flare of your rheumatologic condition (and to at the same time be treated without any respect or mercy), then Dr Howard is the doctor for you!

Dr. Howard is very efficient and proffessional. He diagnosed my condition quickly and accurately with out a lot of testing. He started my treatment that day and I had positive effects by the next day. The condition is controlled and monitored and I will soon be completely cured when I am weaned off the steroid. I enjoy my visits to his office. The staff are always cheerful, pleasant and attentive. I would reccommend him to anyone.

I am very glad I got an appointment to see Dr. Howard. I was suffering greatly and confused about what was wrong. Dr. Howard provided a quick and accurate diagnosis. Treatment was quick and very effective. Dr. Howard was personable and fully explained the disease, symptoms, treatment and expectations. Not only did he describe what was going on, he provided printed information that was very reassuring and thorough. It is good that he has several locations; two of them are convenient for me. I recommend Dr. Timothy Howard with confidence and gratitude.

I had an appointment yesterday. I hit traffic and was 10 minutes late. The doctor decided to leave and go out for lunch... I rescheduled with the receptionist. She apologized to me. Then, I got a phone call today saying that I did not show up for my appointment and needed to pay them. I am not going to pay you for an appointment that you did not show up for.

It took 3 weeks to set up an appointment with this office. Every time my dr office would fax them information they would not respond or said they did not receive it and blamed my dr office. After making my appointment finally I had to wait 3 months, something came up on the day of my appointment and could not make it, instead of being understanding the office manager Amy was rude, disrespectful and condescending when she was requested to send the dr a message asking if I could be fit in. This office resembles everything that is wrong in the healthcare field today. The Dr may be a decent Dr but the staff, especially the office manager is rude, blame pointing, unprofessional and not compassionate. Steer clear of this place.

He may be a good doctor but his staff’s ignorance of intermittent FMLA US Laws is a crime in this field. I’m only 56 but apparently will be needing a hip replacement. The staff has refused to fill out my intermittent FMLA paperwork. So now I could loose my health insurance and other benefits this law was designed to protect if you are out of work more that twice a year due to the same condition. 1 appointment with Dr Howard. 2 first day of 8 physical therapy. Oops no more time for the follow up!

he has taken over for a DR that I was so very happy with Dr. Kimmelheim. Since then, I have been increasingly more and more comfortable with Dr. Howard. I find him to be compassionate, understanding, and he really listens to me. He cares, and lets me offers suggestions in regards to my health, and I appreciate that. He is patient, spends time with me, and is never in a rush.
