Dr. Mitzel is caring, compassionate, and he knows his stuff. He makes time for me if I’m struggling and I need an appointment. He is accessible and his office will return your call in a timely manner. He has good sense of humor too.

Called for an appointment and while the 2 women I had spoken to were friendly, the intake questions were quite invasive. They even asked about bankruptcies and arrests. After giving all of my personal information for the Doctor to review, I ended up being "declined" as a patient. I should've read the other reviews before even trying to call. Who turns down a patient suffering from depression that is in need of help? I've never had ANY Doctor "screen" me before treating me- regardless of specialty. I'm glad I found out what type of person he is before going in though. This guy is a narcissist.

I told the doctor I had anxiety for months but was not treated. Instead I was told I was Bipokar. The medications that he gave me made me worse. Now I continue to have panic attacks and have to wait to see another practice as a new patient. The doctor was hard to get in touch with and the staff was rude. All after waiting for 3 months for my initial appointment.

Dr. Mitzel is a good Dr. He takes time to listen and get to know his patients. The low rating is based on scheduling. His receptionist constantly reschedules people and you only know you are rescheduled because you get a confirmation call with the wing time. Many times I've been rescheduled at a time I can't make because of my work schedule. When someone schedules an appointment you should honor it, not assume that people have nothing better to do but change their schedules on your whim.

My experience with the staff and doctor was the most degrading experience . It takes a month to go through their hoops to get an appointment.. Calls are not returned or they lie and say they left a message.I have plenty of insurance but was informed after one month that DR MITZELL is not accepting me as a patient and he doesn't have to tell me anything in the most arrogant tone.I am a person trying to get help, and to be dismissed like this from DR MITZELL and the time wasted when I needed help.

Dropped as patient--14 yrs. Going through difficult time due to close family deaths--did miss appts. No compassion. Staff could be very ignorant/nasty. For the best because found out I had been misdiagnosed as bipolar. Had taken lithium for bipolar for 14 years. Went into kidney failure once from lithium toxicity, spent 9 days in hospital. Was put back on it by this dr. The new dr. took me off it completely in 2014; was told I was overmedicated. Now in total remission from depression.

When my mom had emergency surgery, I couldn't cancel a 7 AM Monday appointment. So I too got a letter dropping me as a patient. I now know this is your practice, as another reviewer reported it. Is this even ethical? Multiple requests for a call back have been ignored. When I did call and ask if it was his office, the responder said "I think so." Seriously? When I did get an appointment, I waited 3 months for it, being new to the area.

I called in to schedule an appointment as a new patient. The secretary told me I would need to do an intake interview and they wouldn't have any appointments for a month. The call went well and I was told the next step was to be called by the scheduler to finalize an appointment. They never called and when I called to see why they claimed they left a message that they were referring me and got hostile with me. The provider they referred me to won't take my insurance either. Thanks.

Very difficult to access. Unpleasant staff screens calls. Tried to get in for a second appt. (said my meds were not right) and it took weeks before I could be seen. Became sick w/the flu and accidentally missed the appt. (something I would never do - an honest error on my part) and did not refill a presc. b/c the dose was affecting me adversely, so he dropped me as a client that same day via mail. in all my years, this was a first! Do psychiatrists take the Hippocratic oath? I am appalled.
