Receptionists are rude and not knowledgeable!
I was very pleased with Dr. Shaver and his nurses. I have gone to him for a no. of years. However, the receptionists are rude, didn’t know how to schedule my appointment so insurance would pay. Had to argue to have find out I was correct. Ask 3 times to be taken out of the patient portal. Finally the nurse did it for me but said it was the receptionists who should have done that. One receptionist was sick with a fever and should not have been helping with patients.

I honestly belive this man saved my wife's life. My wife was diagnosed with RA in her 20s. Several Drs treated her but it was Dr Shaver who put her on Remicade. Dr Shaver has a way of speaking in plain language to explain the complex. I am thankful for his treatment.

I had an appt with Dr Shaver in 4 days. However the ADMINISTRATOR of the practice canceled my appt today because I inquired why I was being asked to put down a $200 cash deposit when I have two health insurance plans. She stated that it was because of an issue with a past bill. I explained that I only had the bill because another dr who no longer practices there wrote a diagnosis for a body part I was not being seen for and that during my visit I specifically told her not to because it was under WC and my health insurance would refuse payment. Insurance refused payment, I called their office multiple times to get it corrected and they refused to correct it. The ADMINISTRATOR proceeded to cancel my appt with Dr Shaver because she said I was “badmouthing“? a dr, who no longer practices there, and therefor “badmouthing“ ARCK. Dr Shaver may be a good doctor, but doctors work for patients and they need to know when their “customer service team“ is giving them a bad name.

I have been seeing Dr. Shaver for a little over 4 years now. I have a connective tissue disease and shortly after the first meeting with him, I felt like he had a great gauge of what needed to be done for me to get my strength back. He put me on a medication plan that has done that and kept me going in the right direction ever since. If he's as knowledgeable about my rare disease Dermatomyositis, I would think he'd be perfect for anybody that needs medical help in the more well known rheumatic diseases. I have no real complaints other than what you would see with any specialist that sees a lot of patients, i.e. appointment availability and sometimes turnaround time on approving prescriptions. In the end though, if someone's life was on the line with a rheumatic disease, I wouldn't hesitate to put my trust in Dr. Shaver.

I like dr. Shaver very much. Even when he’s running behind, he takes the time to answer all of my questions, and allay my concerns. When one medication does not work for me, he’s always able to come up with an alternative. He strikes me as very patient and kind, as well as at the top of his field.

In 2016 after waiting for months to be seen I was interviewed by Dr. Shaver's nurse who acted very full of herself as if she thought she were God. Dr. Shaver spent all of 5 min. with me, sent me for lab work & sent a dismissive letter to me. My GP said he was an expert. I suffered horribly for two more years until I saw another rheumatologist this month and was finally diagnosed and am being treated. I have lupus with 6 of the 11 qualifying criteria. I would NOT recommend him to anyone!

I highly recommend Dr. Shaver with no reservations. He is compassionate, caring and responsive to all health concerns I have discussed with him. He is thorough in his examination and appears to be extremely knowledgeable and up-to-date in his field. The nurses and office staff are excellent as well. I am totally confident in his ability to diagnose, treat, and manage my disease.

Sometimes Dr. Shaver is compassionate, and at other times he is dismissive to your complaints. Sometimes he makes me feel like I make up what is causing me pain, by telling me, "don't anticipate pain," especially if I am going off of a medicine that has helped manage my pain. Not sure what I will do about going back to him. Most reviews I have read about other Rheumatologist have just been fair to poor.

Shaver is a great doc. His staff is horrible. Hard to get someone to answer the phone. Nurse/assts treat patients like they are clueless. As someone with a chronic illness I know my body the best and am rehearsed on my protocol, doc gives me instructions and then the nurse acts like I am an idiot when I call in like doc asked me to. My Patient portal isn't updated with my correct info and instead of listening to me, the nurse treats me like I am clueless. Moving on to a better office. Bye!
