Dr. Timothy Tougas, DPM

I started out with Dr Tougas in the early 90’s I was in my early 30’s. Always having ankle issues and constant sprains, thought I was getting the best of care.One of my last injuries, workers comp, I was put in a walking boot, after 6 weeks I’m still in pain. I’m sent for an MRI, get a call stop walking on that ankle immediately and get a knee scooter on your way to the office. Torn ligaments… non weight bearing 8 weeks, back in walking boot sent on my way, no follow up MRI or therapy. Never taken me serious. Now in my late 50’s I have finally found a Dr that’s truly helping me. Both ankles now have non existent ligament, no cartilage, floating bone fragments and arthritis. 11/30/22 right ankle had reconstructive surgery, plantar, tarsal release, removed bone fragments and 3 months of therapy. 11/8/23 left ankle scheduled for the same surgery, thank you Aurora Orthopedics and Dr Scharer, for going the extra mile and for helping fix what was ignored by this office for years.

He is fine to go to if you have something minor wrong. But if you have a chronic pain condition then forget it... no help at all! He reminds me of that teacher in Ferris Bueller's Day Off who say "Bueller... Bueller..." Lacks empathy and facial expressions.

I tore a tendon in my foot. He said it was partially torn and put me in a boot. I have been in pain for over two years. I went back quite a few times but nothing was ever done. Finally went to another doctor who wanted to know when I broke my foot and when did I have an MRI for the tendon. "Dr." Tougas never took an xray and never ordered an MRI. I just went through surgery for a completely torn tendon and extreme arthiritis. STAY AWAY! He never listened to me and didn't acknowledge my pain

Everyone was very friendly and answered all the questions I had. They were also very helpful with dealing with the insurance company to make sure they would cover my custom insoles. I appreciate having treatment options and not being pushed or forced into doing any if I didn’t want to.

Went in for treatment of a wart, the doctor put some acid on it and sent me on my way. I was there for less than 20 minutes. 2 weeks later, I receive a $600 bill because they classified this a laser treatment and a call for them asking me to come back in for another treatment. Bunch of crooks!

Always professional, helpful, informative and engaged. Dr. Tougas never seems rushed, distracted or pressed for time. The staff and support team are also terrific. Really a first class experience every time I visit.

Dr Tougas really took his time to listen to my concerns and problems I was having with my foot. He was thorough and explained in great detail not only what was wrong, but why and how it could be corrected. I never felt like he was trying to quickly push me out of the office in order to get to the next patient. Nor did I feel he was trying to push me into an unneeded surgery. The genuine concern and quality of care provided.... is invaluable.

Dr Tougas is very thorough, yet speaks in terms that the average person can understand. He's professional and trustworthy. His assistant is extremely helpful and efficient. His office staff is friendly, knowledge and courteous. The front desk staff even helped me to my car when I had crutches as well as bring some paperwork that I needed, to my car so I didn't have to hobble into their office. They even followed up with me to make certain I got to my destination alright! I would highly recommend

Dr. Tougas is exceptionally nice, and always makes the time to answer any and all questions. If you call with a concern after surgery, he and his staff never make you feel like your questions are a bother ... instead they encourage you to ask about anything you are unsure or concerned about. Dr. Tougas takes the time to explain the procedures thoroughly, and explains why a certain procedure is best, for your situation. He'll even help you pick out good shoes :) He and his staff are fantastic!
