I left without being clear about somethings about test results nor having questions answered. This was not a good visit.

After months of trying to figure out what to do, both the NP and Dr said "we will have a plan" I could have cried tears of relief hearing that. I felt the weight of the world lift immediately and knew I was where I need to be.

PA could not have been more attentive or helpful as we talked through a complicated medical history. Dr. Bauer was very accommodating and talked through my issues with very helpful explanations.

My Dad passed away due to complications from a surgery Dr Bauer ordered. Dr Bauer failed to take the time to correctly evaluate my Dad's condition, and rushed him into an ultimately fatal surgery without full evaluation of the risks. My Dad actually saw Dr Bauer very little despite being a patient in Dr Bauer's care. When he did appear during the initial appraisal of my Dads condition he was very rushed and didn't take time with my Dad, instead letting students do his work. After the surgery resulted in my Dad's sudden rapid downward decline Dr Bauer and his team were no where to be found. If any of them ever did show up to the my Dad's hospital room it was hours before visiting time started. As medical oncologists would later tell us, My Dad had been suffering from a common condition for late stage pancreatic cancer patients. This condition was exasperated by the surgery Dr Bauer ordered.

I saw Dr. Bauer as the assigned Dr when I transferred by helicopter from another facility. He was very caring and made me feel very at ease at a difficult time. Over the next two months I saw Dr. Bauer multiple times as an inpatient and outpatient care giver and he performed my very difficult liver lobectomy. Since my surgery in 2012 I’ve seen him for follow up visits yearly and he has always been attentive and kind. I would recommend him to anyone needing his services.

Dr. Bauer performed a very difficult operation on me over three years ago and saved my life. I see him every 3 months and all my with ct scans have come up clean. I trust Dr. Bauer completely with my life and I know he is well trained and very capable at doing it. Probably one of your best surgeons you have at UVA

Dr. Bauer may be a good surgeon but I have not been impressed with his bedside manner. I would have preferred to see another doctor in the UVA group.
