Dr. Tung Shu, MD

Dr Shu removed my Adrenal gland in 2017 and has taken very good care of me ever since. He is an amazing doctor as well as a good man. I recommend him to anyone I hear needs a good Urologist.

I was so glad to be able to see Dr. Shu for my problem(s) that were all resolved successfully. I wanted Dr. Shu as my doctor-specialist because I found while researching his background (highly recommend) he is an expert in his field. He has written extensively about the subject of his skills, and I found he is the first in Texas to have used the Di Vecchi Robot on a procedure he specializes in. He has the special training including the step above what a doctor-specialist should have in his field and position, and he has the experience up and above most of his peers in his field. In his communicating with his patients, I found he investigates the problem in a timely manner; takes his time detailing his findings and recommendations (also on paper). He listens well. Results are reviewed with you in detail and in a caring manner. Because of his actions and personality, he is someone you can feel confident of and trust in. I found Dr. Shu's staff to be professional and caring, as expected.

Dr Shu is the best urologist in the Houston area. I was referred to him for a tumor on my kidney. After thoroughly explaining options, he performed my surgery. Reports show he totally removed the tumor. I feel he has added 10-20 years to my life; I feel better than I have felt in years. Under his supervised care and monitoring for next few years, I will be able to enjoy my family and life. Dr Shu and his entire staff are very courteous and caring. I feel I was blessed for being referred to him, most compassionate Dr I have ever met.

He is a very gifted Doctor. His communication skills are excellent. The staff around him is not worthy of him.

Don’t waste your time going to this Doctor! Dr. Shu is actually amazing and a great doctor, but his staff is severely lacking. We did everything on our end to get my dads surgery scheduled but I have been trying for a month and a half to get it scheduled. No one will return calls. You will leave message after message and get no call back. An absolute shame considering how great Dr. Shu was.

Been a patient for many a year,Best there Is to my Option

After a bad result from an earlier TURP with a different Surgeon/hospital I went to Dr. Shu at Memorial Herman MC. Dr. Shu conducted an extensive series os exams and imaging. He is VERY detailed and spent significant time detailing my problem. In addition he visited me multiple times post surgery in addition to several of his associates. My wife and I have been favorably impressed by his care.

So happy that I found Dr Shu. Great communicator. Easy to talk to. Takes time to make sure that I understand what he is telling me and what I should do.

THE MOST VERY CAREFUL EXAMINATOR THAT EARNED 5 STARS. DR SHU GAVE HIMSELF MORE TIME WITH ME TO BE SURE THAT I UNDERSTAND AND SHOWED ME MRI/CATSCAN/ ULTRASOUND PHOTOS EVEN BLOODWORK REPORTS. HE CHECKED ALL OTHER REPORTS FROM SEVERAL DOCTORS AS HIS TEAMS. SPECIAL THANKS TO DR TUNG SHU TO SAVE MY RIGHT KIDNEY AND OTHERS. HE IS MORE LIKE REAL FAMILY MAN TO ME.

I have suffered from an enlarged prostate for many years and decided to have a TURP done. After a series of investigations, Dr. Shu ended up at the top of my list. Although my case is challenging and risky due to the huge size of the prostate and two bladder stones, Dr. Shu completed the surgery smoothly. I would want to share with you honestly that my recovery time was short, no pain and no side-effects of any kind. Now, it is absolutely evident that my surgery by Dr. Shu is a great success.

Outstanding physician. I transferred to Dr Shu after my surgeon / urologist took a sabitical. Dr Shu spent over an hour with me going into detail my Path report and exactly what my surgery entailed. My previous Dr. is a brilliant surgeon but pre surgery and post I never had more than 15 minutes total of consultation.

I went to the Urology Depatment of Memorial Hermann as part of screening as candidate for kidney transplant .... there was NOTHING wrong with me. Within 24 hours leaving his office ... I developed flu like symtoms ... and burning during urination. I spent the next 4 days in bed. My primary care doctor said I have a urinary tract infection and gave me an antibiotic short .... and a prescription for a series of antibiotic pills. It was caused by Dr. Shu and his unsanitray equipment.

Hands down the best dr you will ever come across. I only wish he practiced other parts of the body. He is EXTREMELY thorough in his explanations, and gives you as much time as you need to get all of your questions answered. Not for one minute did I ever feel rushed. His staff is extremely kind, and they are very communicative. The only negative is that it is in downtown Houston!

When you call his office no one ever answers the phone. I have tried for 2 weeks to get someone to call me back to no avail. My doctor's office even called and couldn't talk to a live person. I went to his office personally and the lady at the front desk said neither him or his clinical coordinator were in. She gave me the direct line to his clinical coordinator which I called and of course all I got was an answering machine. I left a message to call me back which didn't happen of course.

Dr.Shu explainantions are on spot and very concerned about his patients along with family follow up.

Dr. Shu is an excellent doctor!! He is compassionate and teaches you about your problem while you are there. He even draws pictures! He is a world class physician. I wish he did everything. His staff is also great! The gave me a sense of ease leading to my appointment date.
