Dr. Tushar Patel, MD

I made a virtual appointment to see Doctor Tushar Patel on the phone, asked several times if it was virtual and how I would connect. I was told the information would be listed on the Inova MyChart page. I was on-hold for about 1 hour before I my called was picked up. I never received a call the day before reminding me of the appointment nor provided a link for the virtual visit. I called early in the morning to verify the time and how to do a virtual appointment. I was told the time and to go onto MyChart for information. I was called about 30 minutes prior to the appointment by a nurse asking me some information. I answered her questions and told her I needed a couple refills for prescriptions. She told me she noted the information, and Doctor Patel would address during the appointment. She said to get online, he would be right there. I received a voicemail 30 minutes after the scheduled time that he would no longer provide services since I missed an appointment.

I will not be seeing Dr. Tushar Patel again. I had a five-minute phone call with Dr. Patel in April 2020 to be evaluated for COVID-19. I explained my symptoms to him -- I was experiencing severe difficulty breathing and fatigue and had had a fever, minor cough, and sore throat -- and he refused to order a test for me. After denying me COVID-19 testing and offering no other suggestions for treating my symptoms, he submitted a claim for $400 to my health insurance company. My health insurance covers telemedicine visits and COVID-19-related visits in full, yet Dr. Patel falsely claimed to the insurance company that our interaction was in-person and unrelated to COVID-19, leaving me with a $400 bill for a five-minute phone call. Dr. Patel provided no medical help and appears to be exploiting the epidemic, a time when many people are suffering health-wise and financially, to maximize his profits.

Dr. Patel and his staff are always very friendly and helpful. The nurses are compassionate and thorough. The on line My Chart feature is convenient and easy to use allowing for prompt communication between myself and the doctor.

Dr Patel failed to diagnose having a UTI, wasted over a week doing unnecessary blood work. My blood pressure fell to 83/45, he didn't bother to find a remedy. His admin staff are careless and rude. They charge me the copay before getting to be served! I tried reaching him on a day that my head was smashed from dizziness and LBP, they hanged up on me 2 times. When I reached him at the end of that day, he yelled at me for not RESPECTING his staff and told me to go see another doctor!
