Non caring and incompetent
I had the misfortune of having Dr. Vaishampayan as my oncologist. She made three serious errors during. Confronted about 2 of these mistakes, she denied responsibility - tried blaming other staff. I had proof of her orders on my portal. If that wasn't bad enough, lateness for apptments ranged from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. Twice I left . Final and last medical mistake-A CT she ordered showed a tumor "suspicious" of cancer returning. No call/ message from her. saw it on portal. Finally got different oncologist. Was told Dr. V did NOT DO MRI to confirm tumor was cancerous. New dr.immediately ordered MRI and Biopsy before doing surgery. His review of CT scan and sonogram- he said tumor did NOT appear to be cancer. MRI and Biopsy were ordered to find out if tumor needed to be removed or was benign. If I had continued to see Dr. V I would never have known about doing these tests, had needless serious surgery- approx. 30% tumors like mine are NOT CANCER. Lucky I changed oncologists..

Best communications I've ever had with a Doctor. Dr. V is exceptionally knowledgeable, kind, upbeat, and open minded. She's now at UofM. They, and their patients are lucky to have such a well published and experienced doctor. I will be following her to her new practice. She's one of the few kidney cancer experts in the country, and has done many leading edge Phase 1 studies leading to "break through" therapies. Her recommended therapy for my cancer was contrary to what was recommended elsewhere. We achieved a 40/50% reduction in my cancer after only 2 months of therapy using the least risky therapy available. The change I made to her practice is turning out to have been one of the best decisions I've made in my cancer journey. Dr. V receives my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!
