Dr. Vanessa Chang, MD

I would need twice as many letters to be able to say everything. But I will keep it to the basics. This wonderful doctor did not put me on time limits. She listened to what I have to say and she truly cared. She's not a doctor that listens cuz she gets paid for it. She's a doctor that listens because she wants to get you better. I have been completely honest with her from day one. I never hid anything from her because if I did that she wouldn't be able to help me. Dr. Chang has helped me through one of the worst times in my life. She understood that I wanted to get better but she also understood that that was going to take time. I am grateful for her. I don't know where I would be without her but I know that it would probably be 6 ft under. But instead we're fighting through the pain, and she is helping me get to the other side of that bridge for the grass is greener and smiling comes natural. She's not a doctor that's appreciated enough and she should be. Cuz she saves lives too. Ty

I saw Dr. Chang for a very long time. She was a very "stick to the 15 minutes" and get her out type doctor. She does her routine and then wants the patient out as quickly as possible. She does not spend quality time getting to know her patients. I thinks he gives her blunt opinion on items, but no one should be bullied into thinking her opinion is the absolute truth. They should stick up for themselves too! I had to do that on often occasions and it left me fighting for myself and feeling drained after appointments. I actually felt worse then when I felt going in. I had plans of what I was going to say and they went wasted because she wanted to do her "routine" and get me out of the office. She would tell me "there is no pill for so and so emotional issue". Harsh right? Something you don't really bluntly tell someone with a mental illness in my opinion at least not like that.She would make med changes without any explanation! She would make assessments in 2 mins without any explanation

Dr. Chang is very upbeat, cheerful, and kind. She listens and never pressures a patient to share more than he/she wants to. Dr. Chang is focused on finding the medication(s) that work for an individual and then celebrating the resultant success together.

I've been seeing Dr Chang for a couple of years now and I feel like I'm making real progress since I started working with her. She helped me figure out my meds -finally!- and she really listens to me during my sessions. I have called her office a couple of times during the day in a crisis and she always calls back. Couldn't ask for much more, honestly.
