Dr. Veena Prabhakar, DO

I scheduled an appt in December of 2022 because she was highly recommended. I wasn’t able to get an appt until March 2023. A few weeks before my appt the office called me and told me the Dr would be out of the office until May. I asked to reschedule and was told I would have to wait until June. Because that would be 6 months from when I first scheduled an appt I was somewhat hesitant. I asked if this would happen again and was told no. I now get a call from her office saying she is no longer taking new patients. I understand that going forward she wants no new patients but she should honor those already scheduled, especially if you’ve waited 7 months! My husband is a doctor and was appalled at this kind of healthcare service.

My husband and I started going to Dr. Prabhakar a year ago. Our appointments would get cancelled frequently and we would have to communicate with the office via a call center. The employees working the call center were often ill-equipped to answer and relay messages. I had to see Dr. Prabhakar’s partner when she was on a leave of absence to simply renew my prescriptions. On my last visit, the partner told me he was leaving the practice and the office in 4 S Ranch was closing the next day. We had no idea! My husband was later notified to reschedule because Dr. Prabhakar would only be working in the mornings. We are going elsewhere and will never deal with Palomar Healthcare again!

I have been with Dr. Prabhakar for may years and followed her from Graybill, to Sharp, back to Graybill. Outstanding Doc! In the past communication and scheduling have always been quick and direct until lately, not sure if it is Graybill operating procedures, but it is extremely hard to get in touch with the office and even harder to make appointments. Many sent messages/emails through their own portal which never received a replied, and my husband (also a patient), had his appointment cancelled and when he opted for a call back through the system (as it was one of the options given), he never hear back from anyone. They keep saying they are updating their system, for months now! Anyway, the experience with this new group has been an absolute nightmare, I'm hoping Dr. P moves to a more organized group. Just to give you an idea right now (we are at the beginning of April), they are scheduling for July... if you can get through that is. Extremely frustrating!

She has been my primary care physician for 15 years, and I wouldn't think of changing. Extremely bright, knowledgeable, caring, thorough and attentive.

I’ve found in Dr. Prabhakar all the attributes that I want my primary doctor to be. I’ve been under her care for many years and I’m glad to know that she’s still in San Diego and will be moving to the new Graybill Medical Group/4S Ranch Medical Center August 11, 2021.

She is the best Dr I have ever had. She cares, she is so knowledgeable. She always listen and her nurse is amazing as well. I fully recommend her.

Dr. Prabhakar is the best! She always makes time for me no matter what. Her assistant Francine is always on top of things, check the follow my health emails. Dr. Prabhakar is friendly and I feel comfortable telling her all my symptoms and most importantly she takes her time and never rushes me. I have recommended her to many family members and friends. So glad she is my primary.

After three years of happily working with Dr. Prabhakar, I have recommended that my parents also see her. I feel that her understanding of both my and my parents needs are outstanding, and I am always happy to see her, even when I am not feeling my best.

Dr. P listened to me and I felt that she heard me. She the first doctor that has done this on some time. She didn't make me feel like I was a number or that she was rushing me. Thank you Dr. P!

I love Dr. P! She listens, acknowledges me and then discusses the appropriate plan of care. And then, she follows through immediately. Her assistant, Francine, is awesome. Truly a Sharp experience with Dr. P!

She cares about the people the go to see her, she follows through on what they need and makes sure you never leave without knowing everything you need and having all your questions answered. She's easy to talk to as a person and a doctor. And she treats people like they are her friends, not patients she'll forget about once they're out the door. She is always up to date in the medical field and knows the best doctors to refer to if you need a specialist.
