Neglects & doesn’t listen
If I could give Dr. Tammana negative stars, I would. I saw him inpatient in 2020 where he withheld results of my EGD and gave me an inaccurate report, neglecting to tell me they found a hiatal hernia and small gastric polyps. I saw him again as an outpatient earlier this year due to abdominal issues. After finding inflammation on a colonoscopy, Dr. Tammana believed the cause to be NSAID damage. He then put false information into his office note at my follow up appointment regarding history of NSAID use to support his finding. The report notes daily NSAID use when I told him I haven’t taken NSAIDS at all for 2+ years. He completely blew me off each time I saw him as a patient. He told me my symptoms are not consistent with IBD, ignored my unintentional weight loss, and did not order recommended follow up tests. He rushed through the appointment and did not explain anything or offer a treatment plan.

Man splained
I saw this doctor. His exact words were young women like you who take lots of medicine seem to think they need too…. Also: that isn’t what I asked you…. I only need a short answer.

If I could give this a negative review it would be. I've never been so insulted by anyone as much as I was from him. He has no bedside manners, he's rude, and thinks he's better than you. I will not go back to him. He apparently is offended easily as he has no humor rather just arrogance. Only the nurses named Carley at the medical center some that were 2 of them would get 5 stars. I'm sorry that they have to deal with him. I will rather go to trinity or Pittsburgh for a new gastroenterologist even though I live in Weirton.

Dr Tammana is easy to communicate with. He is very knowledgeable and has a great personality. His nurse is on top of everything and one of the nicest healthcare workers I've ever met. Provided me with samples to try, which is not done in this area much for insured persons. Highly recommended.

If you live in Cookeville you may be fine seeing these doctors. Living outside the area you will have problems. They only perform colonoscopies early in the day. They will not make changes to accommodate patients. Living 45 minutes away I needed a time later than 7:30am. Think about being up part of the night after a clean out. Then having to get up around 5:30 am in order to be out the door by 6:15. That would be the only way to arrive at the pre procedure time wanted for a 7:30 appointment.

Dr. Tammana was extremely professional and accommodating before, during and after the procedure. He allowed me to be awake during the Colonoscopy which was painless, and very interesting. He explained the whole thing like a tour guide as the endoscope went through my colon. He removed a non-cancerous polyp and took a couple of biopsies. He was very thorough and proficient.
