Dr. Vernan Atienza, MD

A very unpleasant experience. We checked in 30 minutes ahead of the appt and sat in the waiting area, until a staff person comes in asking "where were we, did we check in, they were waiting for us?" It was their mistake. When in the exam room, the Dr comes in, without extending any warmth or kindness, starts telling us what he CANNOT do, and literally did nothing to help, his specialty being Geriatric, and then scolding us for not doing this and that, and accusing us of being late, when we are actually there early. Never going back and we told him so.

I always feel better after my Drs visit, Dr Atienza is always informative, personable and takes the time to know & help with my concerns.

I TOTALLY DON'T AGREE WITH THE PATIENT ABOVE Dr. Atienza is almost always on time. He listen and answers questions. And i have a lot of questions i take her to almost all of her appointments. My mom is 95 lives alone in our 55 year old house. My dad passed away 6 months ago, The Dr has not tried to talk us into moving her to a nursing home ever

Dr. Atienza is my mother's physician. He is extremely frustrating to work with. My mom wants to stay in her home, he keeps talking about a care facility (kickbacks?). I had to argue to have her taken off unnecessary medications. Always pushing for more appointments and more testing. How many times per year do you need to see the doctor when you are over 90? He is a poor listener, and discounts family opinions on matters even when they are carefully researched. The upside - he's close by.
