Dr. Victoria Valdecanas, MD

I saw Valdecanas when she worked Tucson. I always struggled with high blood pressure but the first words out of her mouth when she came into the room was, “what are you eating?!” I watched what I ate but I’m not sure if she was referring to me being 170lbs and saying I was over weight or just that my blood pressure was high. Regardless she focused on the fact that I needed to watch more of what I ate above anything else. She’s the type of doctor who only believes in natural medicines over prescriptions. Which I have no problem with except that not all health issues can be fixed with natural remedies. I would NEVER go to see her again.

She isn't the most personable doctor, but I think she knows her "stuff". She seems like she is always in a hurry. I noticed that she's shortened her work week, only comes in M-W-F.

Dr Valdecanas understood the pain I was having in my hip area and provided solutions available to address my concerns.

Dr. Valdecanas is very honest about the pros and cons of the medications she prescribes. She is caring and thorough.

My Doctor likes to do all the talking and sometimes I need to ask permission to ask a question. Usually I feel rushed however, at this appointment I did not feel rushed.

I have been seeing Dr Valdecanas for almost a year. To say that she is thorough is an understatement. Prior to seeing her I was with Kaiser in Orange County. Dr Valdecanas corrected my prescriptions so I no longer have painful side effects. I am lucky to be have her as my personal physician. Her staff, however, can be difficult to work with.

Dr. Valdecanis is very thorough and takes the time to hear about your health situation. She offers options for your healthcare but does not pressure you to do anything. But, she is strict about covering all the bases. I do appreciate her and wouldn't want any other primary care doctor.

Definitely needs some additional training in bedside manner. During my very first visit I asked a question and she quickly shut me down by saying "I'll ask the questions." The next year during my annual physical I started to describe a pain issue I was having and she replied "What do you want me to do about it?" That was the last straw - I no longer see her.

She doesn't listen to me and she spends more time typing on her computer than looking at me. She has a strong accent and is hard to understand sometimes, and she is very condescending. I can't wait to find a new Dr. I don't recommend her at all.

From the very first visit, it was apparent that the doctor and I had a personality issue. Subsequent visits showed she didn't want to hear what the patient had to say about anything. Her catch phrase is always hear me out when you tried to say something about yourself. She seemed to know what was wrong with you before she saw you. I will add that I changed doctors within the same office as I was uncomfortable with my first doctor. I feel this is why she treats me with disinterest.
