Dr. Vikas Chopra, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Chopra for 7 years and I want anyone reading this to know that he is not only an AMAZING Doctor, he is an Incredible human being. Knowledgeable, compassionate, and kind, Dr. Chopra will take the time to listen and address all of your questions and concerns. I just sat in a waiting room with 6 other patients and no one had anything but praise for this man. Dr. Chopra is, hands down, the best.

Dr Chopra and the rest of the staff at Doheny Eye Center took great care of me when my glaucoma took a sudden turn for the worse at the end of 2023. Dr Chopra walked me through several surgery options and encouraged me to get a second opinion, which I appreciated. In the end, I had to get several stents and two trabeculectomies. Through the physical and emotional ups and downs, Dr Chopra was extremely patient with me, always answering my questions and reassuring me whenever I panicked, while also ensuring we always took any less-than-ideal results seriously. All the staff at Doheny Eye Center are friendly and helpful, and I appreciate their support through such a difficult time. Glaucoma can be a very volatile and damaging condition when not controlled, and most glaucoma specialists in the LA area will make you wait for several months before seeing you despite the severity of your condition. I’m thankful I found a clinic that cared enough to accommodate me despite how busy they are.

I went to Dr. Chopra about 4 yrs ago, and since have tried to find a glaucoma specialist, in Orange County that measures up to his expertise. Have not found anyone, so far. I had a bad experience with the current glaucoma doctor when having cataract surgery and shunt implant from OC. I am now looking into changes insurance carriers just to get back to Dr. Chopra, whom I trust completely.

It took over a year to complete my cataract surgery and my eye sight is Seriously Worst than when I went in. When I mentioned this to Dr Chopra, his comment was, 'well that happens with age', and walks out. He was always in a hurry and the waiting tine to see him was always excessive. On my last appointment, I decided to leave and call it quits with Dr Chopra after the usual Long Wait and after paying my co-pay AND ESPECIALLY with my eye sight getting worst. I called shortly after this and it took a while to reach a manager. I asked for my co payment to be refunded and a copy of my medical records, months after, I AM STILL WAITING. - I DO NOT RECOMMEND Dr. Vikos Chopra, at all - nor Doheny Eye Center. I live in NM and flew out to Dr. Chopra for a consultation regarding my severe glaucoma. Everyone in his office was efficient , professional, and friendly. After the usual gamut of tests Dr. Chopra came in for his analysis. He was charming, honest, and very forthcoming about my condition and possible treatments. I was struck by his ardor for his specialty. My glaucoma, which I have had for 40 plus years, is severe, and Dr. Chopra didn't gloss over that. But, somehow, when I left his office I felt more optimistic. If you live in the LA area, go to him.

Dr Vikas is very knowledgeable in glocoma, up on all the latest items to keep my sight. He put a drain in my left eye and a new lens, I just had my test reviews and they are much better than before. Excellent!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Chopra for several years now. He is very thorough in his diagnosis and genuinely cares about his patients, as was evident from my post operative care experience. You cannot go wrong with Dr. Chopra.

I have been under Dr.Chopra's care for almost three years. He is very thorough while making the treatment plan, prioritizing health, and considering personal needs. Dr.Chopra is also knowledgeable and patient, always listens to my concerns and answers my questions with great detailed explanations. Dr. Chopra recently performed surgery on both of my eyes, 2 weeks apart. The surgery was complicated as it was for both cataracts and primary narrow angle closure glaucoma. After 6 weeks recovery, I have 20/20 vision in my right eye, and 20/25 in my left eye which is only 4 weeks post surgery. My eye pressure, which was very high at my first visit 7 months ago, is now well under control. I am thrilled with the results. In my visits to his office, his staff were so professional and kind. And as for Dr. Chopra, I really can't say enough. He is extremely knowledgable, passionate about his work, kind, personable, and he genuinely cares about his patients. He explains everything with clarity and you are provided with after visit summaries explaining the treatment you received at each visit and what's next. He is an expert in his field, and if I could give him higher than 5 stars, I would. He will continue to follow me for future eye care. He's the best.

I have been under Dr Chopra's care for 10 years. Dr Chopra is my third Glaucoma specialist and the first to maintain stability in my left eye which suffers from low to very high pressures caused from traumatic glaucoma. Dr Chopra has been able to save my vision with his innovative surgeries. He is caring and excellent are explaining what is going on with my eye and the best treatment. And yes there might be a wait to see him, because he is the best and everyone else wants to see his also. He is worth the wait.

When another ophthalmologist referred me to Dr. Chopra, there was a reason. Dr. Chopra is excellent. I have been under his care for 11+ years for glaucoma and happy that there has been minimal progression of damage. He explains and educates you on his approach to treating a problem and has been more than happy to explain in detail why he feels it would be best. In addition to glaucoma, I recently underwent cataract surgery in both eyes and could not be happier with the results. I think that when other ophthalmologists refer patients to Dr. Chopra, there is a lot being said.

Never encountered a more rude doctor. Why are you yelling at patients? Be professional!

He's an arrogant, entitled man with the worst bedside manner I've ever encountered. Quite honestly have never been spoken to like that by another person, a physician, no less! To treat people, who are there seeking care for health conditions, in this horrible manner is inhumane. Doheny needs to listen to patient feedback and do something!

Dr. Chopra is a great physician who makes me feel comfortable asking as many questions as I have, and answers all of them. My travel time to his office is over an hour. It is well worth the driving distance and time. He performed my cataract surgeries and restored my vision beyond my greatest expectations. Dr. Chopra is professional and does a thorough job during the office examinations, and the surgery process. He is positive and supportive. I feel very blessed to have him as my doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Chopra.

My brother traveled to US last year to seek the best treatment for his complex Glaucoma and after seeing 2 other Glaucoma specialist at UCLA he was referred to Dr. Chopra, who did an excellent job of getting to the bottom of the issue and recommended the best corrective surgery for him and saved rest of his eyesight. My brother happens to be a Dentist in India. There are very few doctors who are as smart as him. I will recommend him to my family.
