Multiple fractured ribs year ago. Although consensus is no pain after 3 months healing, I still have thoracic pain. Visit with Lem, no physical exam, only pulmonary test which is not covered by any insurance and his ability to copy a prior prescription and get it wrong twice is disturbing. Especially from a surgeon

Best pulmonary doctor
You will be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable, funny, extremely intelligent and careable doctor. I'm truly truly blessed in having him as my doctor. Don't let his age effect your decision in choosing him. He better fit than most 20 year olds. Every doctor I have come across always say he is one of the smartest doctors they know. I have a great team of doctors and they all say that about him. One Dr said if Dr Lem tells you to jump out of a second story window just do it and don't question it. ( he was joking of course so take that literally). I have been a patient of his practise for quite sometime and I can promise you that you will receive the best care anyone could ask for. He has outstanding bedside manners, great listening skills and reallly thinks outside the box and never comes across as arrogant or as a know it all. If he still accepts new patience he's the doctor you want and is worth the wait. especially if you have a complicated medical issue.

Our experience with Dr. Lem was fantastic. He spent nearly 90 minutes discussing my wife's medical issues with us, explained results and significance of tests and x-rays taken at another hospital, explained various options and set up the proper procedures for a thorough analysis. I was impressed with both his compassion and his knowledge. He represents everything a doctor should be. -- Bob Slater, St. Joseph, MO

Dr Lem is the most brilliant, understanding , dedicated brilliant Doctor I have ever had the honor to deal with. He treated my niece from New Mexico as a favor to me. He worked with her the entire Day ( between patents ) to help her. He truly cares more than any Doctor I know. Kansas City is so fortunate to have this jewel. Mayo and other hospitals have tried to steal him away, to no avail because he is so dedicated to his patents and to the Kansas City area. He is truly one of a kind. My husband had lung cancer and he would call all hours to make sure we were both ok. He truly is the best of the best!!! I am blessed to know him. Karen

There were a number of issues to be addressed - pulmonary and cardiac. Dr. Lem looks at the whole person. He was the only specialist who demonstrated integrated thinking. He checked with the cardiologist when there was a question about meds or treatment. I was hospitalized for cardiac issues. The cardiac care ignored my pulmonary issues. Without Dr. Lem's whole person approach and caring, I would not have gotten well

Dr. Lem has changed my life. I went in thinking I was going to see my regular pulmonologist (who ended up retiring so now dr Lem full time!) for a pleurisy issue. I had never met this man ever before and within 10 minutes he changed my life forever. He somehow was able to find out I had Lupus and he began the process of finally having an answer to all my pains. Who would have EVER thought Every single issue I had been dealing with for 7+ years was autoimmune related. No one had ever been able to figure it out but he did in 10 minutes. He Will forever be the best doctor ever. I will forever be grateful.

Dr. Lem spent a fair amount of time with my father and I felt like he understood his needs. I'm not sure where the ball gets dropped, if it's with him or the staff. My parents were traveling to see Dr. Lem from 2 hours away and the follow through on what he said he would do concerning communicating with other doctors, seeing if medications would be covered under insurance, calling in the medication, it just never happened. We went to see him twice and this scenario happened both times.
