Dr. Virna Simmons, MD

My last visit to her was outrageous--never saw Dr. Simmons and was left for almost 2 hours in the waiting room before being called back to see her. When called back the technician was rude, left the room while the BP cuff was working and when she came back she said Dr. Simmons would see me soon. This is totally unacceptable for a doctor's office. Heaven help anyone who is really sick and needs to be taken care of. My visit was just for a follow-up. Have never received any explanation why this happened. Jane A.

Dr. Virna Simmons is a really good doctor; however, the front end staff and a few of her nurses are very rude and unprofessional (ghetto is the perfect term to describe them). I am weighing my options and considering changing to another primary care physician due to the lack of professionalism within her staff and for that reason, I cannot recommend her medical services.

My mother had an awesome visit with Dr. Simmons. Dr Simmons is knowledgeable and very concise in her critical thinking skills, assessment techniques, and recommendations. I would definitely refer her to others.

Was really disappointed with my visit with Dr. Simmons. her knowledge base seemed lacking, was not particularly pleasant, and seemed to expect me to solve my own problems. I am diabetic with blood sugars that are very erratic even with insulin therapy. My last A1C was out of sight She didn't seem too concerned about it. We set up a phone visit and she never called. Now, does that show much physician concern? Can't decide about giving her another chance or look for a more concerned physician.

Dr Simmons is the best Dr I have. I have several illnesses and I have been going to her since 2014 and she has been there for me through all my illnesses. At first I did not know why I was so sick all the time but Dr Simmons has never given up on me to find out why I was so ill. I know she is no longer at Oak Hurst Medical Center and I will be following her to her next office.

Dr. Simmons is the worst primary doctor that I have ever had. Either she took all walk in patients first or she was late to work. I came to see her three times. First two time I had to wait 45 minutes. Third time, last, I waited more than 70 minutes. Before I came, I messaged her on the patient portal and she didn’t reply but made an appointment for me after a week waiting from the day I messaged her. Worst doctor! I regretted to recommend her to my friend. She had the same experience.
