Dr. Vivian Shnaidman, MD

For years I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Dr. Shnaidman was the first and only to psychiatrist to listen to me, to realise I have PTSD and had never had a manic episode without starting a new antidepressant or similar medication. I’ve been seeing her for years and she’s the only psychiatrist I trust. I had a psychiatrist who over prescribed benzodiazepines which caused me to be psychotic. Dr. Shnaidman listened to me. She got me on the right medication. She helped me become emotionally stable. I haven’t been in an inpatient facility for over a decade because Dr. Shnaidman took the time to correctly diagnose and treat me. She helped set me in a path to wellness that’s sustainable.

"We felt sorry for R--- and scheduled him without verifying all the insurance information; I have already reprimanded my staff for this. Sadly I cannot afford to work for free and you will be responsible for the cost of the appointment. I would ask that you send us copies of all of Ryan's insurance cards today so that Priyanka can send whatever bills we can. If UHC does pay you will of course be responsible for the copay/coinsurance that medicaid covers. If they do not then you will be responsible for the whole bill. This is not an unusual practice - what is unusual is that I am willing to give up half my income to accept insurance. That may change very quickly especially if patients who have insurance are disingenuous about the coverage they do have and continue to try to take advantage. You get ME, a published author and an internationally known expert. You could just go to someone who will throw lexapro at your disabled son and charge you $300 for a five minute session. Good luck with that." This was her response after telling me AT the appointment that they did not accept my UHC-BH (and I told her that I got her information from UHC-BH) RUN!! She is a grifter and an egotistical horror.

Please do not consider this woman for your mental health needs. She is rude, ego driven, and completely unprofessional. There are plenty of reviews that verify this as well. Unfortunately she has the credentials but nothing else.

I haven't seen Dr. Shnaidman for some time as my insurance has changed sadly and no longer covers her but she was my favorite psychiatrist I have ever seen. I really liked her a lot and she helped properly diagnose me when others had not. I found her beside manner great and I'm not sure about the other negative reviews. She was helpful to me and kind. I hope I can see her again at some point.

Run, don't walk AWAY. Unprofessional is the nicest description I can come up with. If it let me give zero stars I would. (Her staff is decent, but that isn't why one would go to her.)

She was uncaring and irresponsible with my mental health. She would get an attitude with me and it was apparent she would not even look at my chart or remember me before I came in for follow-up appointments. She would never speak to me on the phone, even for emergencies, and would demand I come in and pay the full fee for a session. Absolutely atrocious, all she talked about was herself and the book she wrote.

I had to take my special need daughter few months ago for anxiety.She prescribed the right medicine & She is doing great.I really think it was God sent.

Dr. Shnaidman dropped my daughter like a hot potato because she was admitted to a hospital and then sent to a 5 day a week center for a few months. So since she wasn't seeing her for a few months we received a certified letter that she would not be her doctor any more.

Dr. Shnaidman lashed out at me because of what appeared to be her frustration that I wasn't getting better. She yelled at me for not going to therapy, when I was going to therapy regularly. Eventually, she told me that she didn't want to see me anymore because we weren't getting anywhere. So she basically gave up on trying to help me and was rather mean about it.

Dr. Schnaidmain's office has not returned repeated calls and messages regarding a prescription refill. I have run out of medication twice and there has still been no response.

My experiences with Dr. Shnaidman have been very helpful, enlightening and successful. Dr. Shnaidman listens very carefully to me and fully explains her decisions about my care. In addition, she provides excellent counsel and suggestions for me to follow. Dr. Shnaidman is a very intelligent and considerate doctor. I fully and wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone in need of psychiatric care.

Dr. Shnaidman and her office are always helpful. She is efficient and caring. Dr. Shnaidman diagnosed my child after various other doctors did not get it right. Her patience in medication management til it is right is commendable. We will continue to see her and refer. Thanks Dr. Shnaidman. We wish 10+ stars was optional!!!!

Usually on time but very unhelpful when her first treatment doesn't work well.

Always on time, listens to my concerns, takes care of filling and refilling my medications in a timely manner.

She selected the perfect medication and dosage for me.

extremely warm and caring doctor. always feel comfortable and at ease during my appointments. she is attentive and i always feel like i was heard and understood during our conversations. she is efficient and always available when I needed her, even out of appointment time. very smart and educated with science as well as personal experience. she always gives her best advice, but is not scared to say she needs to double check. very calm and inviting atmosphere. reception always on point.
