Dr. Vivien Tham, MD

Vivien Tham has been an excellent ophthalmologist, and fine human being. I've been blessed with healthy eyes thus far (age 67), but would like to be in her care for eventual cataract surgery. Sadly, I am now forced to change ophthalmologists due to an HMO 'out of network' issue.

I was recommended to Dr Tham by another optometrist because of her expertise with Uveitis. I was legally blind for several weeks. Dr Tham took care of my problem and later preformed successful laser surgery for my rather cataract problem. I now am 20/20 in one eye and 20/25 in the other.

Dr. Tham has been working with my husband and I for the last year and a half. I have had three surgeries (removal of cataracts, and also removal of pterygium.) My husband sees her for glaucoma. She has been great at explaining everything, laying out treatment options, and has my utmost trust. I was terrified at first to have eye surgery, but she was great at putting my mind at ease and explaining everything. All of my surgeries went exactly as planned and without complication. I love her staff. They are personable and easy to talk to and work with. I trust her implicitly with decisions regarding eye care. Interestingly enough, I found when visiting a different provider that he happens to also be a patient. If another physician trusts her, I think that speaks volumes. All in all, my husband and I think the world of Dr. Tham.

I've been a patient of Dr. Tham's since she first opened her practice here. My original Optometrist referred me to a specialist, who then referred me to Dr. Tham because of the type and severity of my permanent eye condition. Dr. Tham has been the only doctor who's been able to keep my symptoms under control and has taken care of all of my eye care needs. She has proven to be very knowledgeable in all aspects and always does so with a friendly and open manner. Her entire staff also reflects the same type of care. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone who wants / needs quality eye care.

Dr. Tham shows compassion for her patients and will discuss any concerns her patients may have about any procedure before or after it has been completed. The doctor is passionate about her work in helping many to see clearly again. I really appreciate her expertise and have recommended friends and relatives.

I see Dr. Tham every 3 months to monitor my eye inflammation condition. She and her staff are always so patient, nice and accommodating to my needs especially when they try to help me save money on my steroid drops - giving me samples since it costs $75 per bottle co-pay.

Office visits are timely. Staff is pleasant and courteous. Very flexible to my needs. Excellent care. Thorough exams with advanced technology. Dr. Is highly knowledgeable and a perfectionist. I live on a neighbor island and am very willing to fly wherever she is.

I have worn glasses since the third grade when they discovered I had 20/600 vision. I have always taken the best care of my eyes as possible. Then at age 70, Dr. Tham discovered that I have uveitis which resulted in glaucoma and cataracts. Dr. Tham did a wonderful cataract operation and my eyes healed properly. It took about a year for my brain to catch up with the new signals (20/30) during which time she was extremely patient with me and my frustration. Obviously, I would recommend her to my friends.

I am very thankful to Dr. Tham for doing a great job on my laser cataract surgery for both eyes, everything went just perfect and I really appreciate her professionalism and expertise. Everyone in her office was very courteous and helpful. I am very lucky to have found Dr. Tham.

My vision has been bad since childhood and I have never been able to see the alarm clock when I wake up in the mornings. That was until I had cataract surgery with Dr. Vivien Tham. She took the time to explain to me the choices I had to make and did not pressure me in any direction. I wanted the best choice available. It was not cheap. The vision was a bit blurry immediately after surgery, but by the weekend, I could not believe what I was able to see. I can see the clouds, the cars, the tree and the leaves too. I am so happy my friend recommended me to go to Dr Tham for my surgery. She is a miracle worker! I have no regret at all.

Dr. Tham took her time to explain to me all the choices that were available to me for my recent cataract surgery. Nice lady but disappointed with the outcome. Clear options should have been presented and discussed.

Dr. Tham is personable & her office work is very good. I would caution about her surgery. Is it necessary? Do research. The procedure should have been explained before it occurred. Being blindsided was not a pleasant experience. A disk of gel was shoved in my eye & without warning it felt like someone snapped a rubber band into my eye. Instinctivly pulled back and apparently that was not good. Btw, Dr. T walked in to office 37 min after my appt. 15 min later I was seen, she was distracted
