Dr. Wayne Burgess Jr, MD

Dr Burgess is one of the best doctors I have ever had. He is easy to communicate with and I always look forward to our semi annual visits. He does not over test and is good a reviewing issues that we are monitoring. My experience overall with Villages Health is excellent. All of the team there have been a joy to meet and provide for a first class experience.

My experience with Dr. Burgess is less stellar than others reported here. Recently as part of my semi annual checkups he requested I take a Fibroscan to check on my liver. Well after having the scan I expected to get not only the results but the analysis of those results and suggested actions to take. The test occured on 9/20 and after many calls to the office on 10/11 I heard back with the diagnosis and suggested remedy of "to not drink alcohol" which was delivered by phone by his tech. He obviously was out of his element in the interpretation of the results. The results of the test were never posted on the patient portal. Needless to say I switched primary doctors and when I saw the new doctor she gave me a copy of the results and had it posted on the portal. Researching on Google I was able to determine that the results were not bad at all but decided I would follow up with my gastroenterologist. In summary I would not be able to recommend Dr. Burgess if you want a reliable doctor who follows through.

Dr Burgess has been my doctor the past several years and I'm glad that, as I reach Medicare-eligible age, I will be able to continue to see him. He is very direct and pragmatic, not one to rush to new and relatively untested treatments. But, he does permit dialogue and questions and can be convinced to try new things when circumstances and the risks warrant. He encourages regular follow-ups, not for the sake of billing, but to confirm treatment plans are working. I personally consider him a bit quirky - which might be off-putting to some - but it's generally due to his direct manner and his healthy skepticism. I actually enjoy his "bedside manner" and I have great trust in his diagnoses and recommendations. For those who want a direct, 2-way dialogue, I would highly recommend him.

Doctor takes the time necessary to explain what’s going on and in a way you can understand him. He treats patients with respect and is on time to see his patients. You don’t have to sit and wait for hours to be seen there aren’t many good doctors around now that really show you they listen and care about your concerns. Great doctor
