Very caring

I went to this doctor because I was a patient of another doctor in this practice. I would not go back to him. My chief complaint was pain and swelling to feet. I quickly was taken for x-rays and while my wait was not wrong the doctor basically said I had arthritis and bone spurs. Basically that was it. I asked what options I had and while he said surgery he did say I’ve seen plenty of patients with much worse x-rays than yours who have not had surgery yet. I felt rushed and that the doctor was disinterested.

Dr Shen has helped me so much with my Peroneal Tendon Rupture, the after care and Achilles Tendinitis related issues that come up from time to time. I am grateful for his expertise and kind treatment he offers on my visits. Highly recommended

Dr Shen was a disgrace. From the second he entered the room he wanted to leave. He was clearly disinterested in any concerns I had, and was abrupt throughout. He dismissed my pain,saying that that is not what’s important. He recommended that I wear a boot and I told him it really hurt when I put it on. His response was” then don’t wear it”! He never returned my call to discuss the MRI he suggested. They’re are many orthopedists out there- USE THEM!

Dr. Shen is a professional and very thorough doctor. The technician did X-rays from multiple angles and was very good. Highly recommended.

Very rude, did not explain things at all. Poor diagnostician. Didn’t listen to my issues. He supposedly treats pain! He caused it to be worse. Staff was ok. Not the best. Not very helpful.

Tendon tear repair. Procedure from initial diagnosis through surgery was 'red tape' painless. Dr. SHEN made sure that I felt cared for and prepared for my surgery.

Dr. Shen is amazing! He always pin point my problem and took care of it promptly. I have foot/back/leg/thight problems. He is my first stop looking for help. He not only took care of it himself. He also refer the best specialist to cure for problems. I have to say his care is genuine and sincere. If you get him as your Orthopaedic doctor you are lucky you are in good hand!

I went to Dr. Shen after contacting ISK Institute on LI and being told that their ankle tendon specialist had left the practice. Not sure if they recommended him or the practice but I was told somewhere that he was the person to see. My podiatrist had suggested I see a specialist about my ruptured peroneus brevis tendon. Looking at the MRI, Shen said it wasn't ruptured and prescribed physical therapy for 4 weeks. It didn't improve. Then he gave me cortisone shots which made it worse. I'll be going to Hospital of Special Surgery in search of another surgeon.

I found Dr. Shen was abrupt, uncaring and rushed. Saw him as second opinion for fractured metatarsals. He said they were healed and I should walk and weight bear. When I questioned him about something didn’t look aligned correctly he told me I’d learn to compensate and that I had osteoporosis in my feet. I felt like he couldn’t wait to be rid of me. A week later I needed an MRI which indicated there was no bridging of the bones along with a lot of swelling. Bad enough to be so uncaring but to give bad advice is doubly worse.

Dr. Shen has treated both my husband and myself for fractured bones in the foot; and offered options for healing, being mindful that (as senior citizens ) we did not want to have surgery. Without hesitation, Dr. Shen gave us his instructions for physical therapy, as well as exercises to be done at home. We believe he would be an excellent orthopedic physician for one, at any age, because of his quick ability to assess the severity of a situation most honestly.

Dr Shin operated on my partner. My partner is a retired surgeon and very fussy. Dr. Shin was so kind to me in explaining what happened to my partners fractured ankle. He was so thorough and showed great compassion and great skill in fixing my partners ankle. He is awesome!!

Mid-way into my first appointment with Dr. Shen he looked at my foot ailment and then at me. "We're going to become friends for a while." I never heard that remark from a doctor, which is what makes Dr. Shen so special and such a medical find. Dr. Shen, in my view, is a unique doctor who cared about me as a person and as a patient. Visit after visit, Dr. Shen proved himself to be someone who was genuinely interested in solving ailments more so than simply a doctor seeing one patient after another. It took time to resolve my foot ailment and when it did happen I was not only back on the tennis court but I was also a richer person for having met Dr. Wei Shen.
