This man has been my childhood doctor and my son’s doctor. He truly is the SWEETEST most amazing doctor and I am glad we have him in our lives.

My son started seeing Dr. Sumner when he was 3 months old until he was one year old. During that time, he went from the 45th percentile to 3rd percentile for weight. He had numerous visits for checkups, vaccines, colds and ear infections, and every time he was weighed and measured, but Dr. Sumner never indicated that there was a problem, and we were never shown a growth chart. At one year, we switched doctors because I felt Dr. Sumner did not explain my sons’ conditions to me (tended to just tell the nurse medications to order without explaining his diagnosis), and because the staff seemed disgruntled and the facilities were very outdated. When we saw a UNM pediatrician, my son was diagnosed with failure to thrive and immediately referred to services to get his weight up. Please do not send your child to this doctor.
