My husband was in a bike vs motorcycle accident. He was in the hospital for 3 days. He had 5 fractured ribs and a shoulder separation. He should have had surgery on his shoulder and it was never done. At the first visit after he was discharged he would not give him any meds for pain. He said he had to see his primary Dr for that.My husbands shoulder is very messed up. He now has no insurance to get it fixed. Avoid this Dr!!

I went to Dr. Gallivan after an Achilles tendon injury. He recommended a few weeks of rest, which did not help and then 6 weeks of physical therapy, which did not help, and then rest again, which did not help. In the midst of this, he said he no longer does surgery at the ankle because he is no longer personally competent with that type of surgery. Eight months passed and he never yet suggested an MRI. When an MRI was finally done, the injury (not a strain but a partial tear) had become chronic and now required more complicated surgery and longer recovery and rehab. In future, he should send patients with Achilles tendon injuries to a fully capable orthopedist. After speaking with him, he seems not able to admit that a lesson is to be learned.

Dr Gallivan has all the qualities expressed in these reviews and more! I have never found a physician that you will have more confidence in and IAM 70 and had 3 Surgeries performed by him. IAM not going to say more except if your problem is in his area of expertise although mine weren't specifically listed schedule an appointment with him and I would be very surprised if you didn't have the same confidence I have in Dr Gallivan!

Had two THR's in 3 mos. My case was extremely complicated - i'd waited six years & there was little to no cartilage remaining. Gallivan tackled the case with gusto and his whole team tried very hard to help me. I was frightened and other issues were involved such as recent deaths worst of all my husband and both parents at the hands of other surgeons as well as high levels of pain killers overprescribed by other specialists all of which made his job harder. Unfortunately my left hip op resulted in an atrophied gluteus medius for which nothing could be done. It was a shame because he prides himself on stellar results more for the patient's sake. A good guy and most everyone else has enjoyed great results. In retrospect he deserves a lot of credit but perhaps my case was more demanding than anyone originally thought. Definitely interview him and see what he has to offer. Dedicated and wants the best for his patients. Knowledgeable and empathetic. Into education -it's called an institute.

Dr that truly cares about his patients as demonstrated in all interactions. Asks questions, listens to you and answers at a level the patient can understand. I just had my second THR by him and his surgery protocol and team focus on doing all possible to avoid the complications of infection and blood clots while making you comfortable with the procedure. You are in good hands with his orthopedic team!
