I have been struggling with various disorders since I was 13 years old. I am now 50 yrs young. I started seeing Dr. G. due to my trichinomania (hair-pulling disorder). Before meeting him, at the age of 24, I went through a roller coaster of doctors to see if any of them could help me. But, nothing ever worked. Finally, at age 35, I met Dr. G., and my life changed completely. He gently listened to me. In time he slowly motified meds that could help me. At one point, my hair-pulling disorder was so bad that my coworkers thought that I had cancer. With that said, I can tell you that I am 90% cured. I have my hair back. If I pull, I would say that it would be once or twice a month, maybe. He also helped me with my anxiety, depression and ADHD. My family loves the new me. Thank you, Dr. G.

My interaction with Dr. G. is via phone. His staff also communicate and respond via phone really well. I am very glad to have this power source to support and help me manage my mental health challenges.

Strange experience
Telehealth
Getting the apppoint was a convoluted process. All interactions were via text messages, and the forms were through an unprofessional portal. It all seemed like a high school student project. At the telehealth appointment, I met with one of the doctor's students. She asked me questions about my situation. The student was friendly, informative, and helpful. She listened well. When she was done, she went to 'hunt down' the doctor. The way she said it suggested the doctor might be eccentric.I spoke with the doctor for about 3 minutes. He was generally unhelpful, especially compared with the student. He seemed to have someone else in the room (off-camera), so the conversation didn't seem confidential. I got the sense that the student did the work for him before our conversation and that he was generally aloof. In addition, the doctor's camera was shaky (handheld?!?), and he had insufficient internet to offer telehealth appointments. I left feeling like it was a waste of my time.

Rubber Stamp Doc
I was at Las Encinas and Dr. Gillespie was assigned as my psychiatrist. He would speak to me for a minute, at most, during each visit. He didn’t have the time to listen to me or answer my questions. He never really asked me any questions either. He was arrogant, rude and very dismissive. I was discharged yesterday and told Gillespie sent my prescriptions to my pharmacy. But he didn’t - Las Encinas just confirmed they never added my preferred pharmacy to the my patient file. Stay away from this doctor who’s only in it for the money and not for his patients. Also stay away from Los Encinas in general if you can. The entire place is a complete mess.

Completely horrid experience. Not only was it a total of 3 hrs for the telemed appointment but the Dr. who is supposed to be helping and listening to me as he asks questions, was too distracted by his cell phone! Throughout the entire telemed appointment he was using his cell phone and most times I could only see a hand on my screen. I felt unheard, unbelieved and distraught. I would recommend any other Dr. who treats his mental health practice and patients with respect and empathy. FYI this was my 1st appointment ever with the Dr. so I can only imagine the non existent attention he would give "established" patients.

After months of trying, made a decision to stop going to William Gillespie and Associates and find new care. I had only came upon recommendation list from my network. The office staff was extremely difficult dealing with each time. Very unprofessional - dealing with incorrect appointment times, inappropriate language/tone on the phone and curt text messages, incorrect personal information on file, extremely hard to get a hold of via phone/text, and no action has been taken from the doctors themselves to correct this when previous patients that have expressed similar distress/complaints publicly online for a long time. When confronting office to problem solve the issues, they claimed they "aren't an urgent/emergency care place" and was extremely aggressive and victim blaming on the phone. When I brought solutions, they told me they'd call me back and never did. Staff lack skill and heart for this work for those seeking genuine care for debilitating sicknesses. Not recommended.

I agree with the other review- Dr. Gillespie is a rumber stamp doctor that doesn't care about patients. My sister was ALSO an inpatient at Las Encinitas in Pasadena, on a 72 hour hold. He then just decided she should be in for another 14 days with NO explanation why. We had to get an attorney involved.

Where do I even begin? He was very difficult to get a hold of (shout out to his assistant Adele though because she was actually amazing), uninformative and extremely dismissive. He gave my loved one, two medications under his inpatient care and was slowly increasing the dosage which sent him to the ER. The hospital told us that he had been allergic to the medication from the start which is why he was having so many side effects, but the doctor did not listen to him when he told him. WAIT it gets better- after he was sent to the ER, the facility he was in and Gillespe WIPED THEIR HANDS of him and said, "it's up to the hospital's discretion for discharge now." He came home with no plan for further treatment and had ZERO follow up. Las Encinas Staff was as helpful as can be, but I DO NOT recommend this doctor for your loved ones.

I like this doctor - he seems genuinely concerned with my "treatment", but he has a "one size fits all" belief, which confuses me. He holds a degree in psychology but doesn't seem to use it when he has his psychiatrist hat on. However, the office staff is great.

Dr. Gillespie is a rumber stamp doctor that doesn't care about patients. My sister was an inpatient at Aurora, on a 72 hour hold. When I showed up to have her discharged, the Dr. hadn't even been to the hospital yet. He had never seen her in the 72 h, spent less than 10 minutes with her, took a phone call during the 10 minute visit, and wouldn't even look her in the eye. He then just decided she should be in for another 14 days! Oh, and I called his office 3x with no return call.
