Dr William J. Kemp, The Virginia Spine Institute
My wife, Dorothy Joye, met with Dr. Kemp at The Virginia Spine Institute in early February concerning her existing spinal stenosis condition. She was experiencing severe pain in her left arm and reduced steadiness in her legs. After a thorough review of her xrays, Dr Kemp suggested she undergo a cervical myelopathy procedure. She concurred and Dr Kemp performed the minimally invasive anterior neck procedure in late February. Today, April 10th, she is without any pain in her arm and has recoverd full use of her legs. In essence, the surgery was a major success. Obviously Dr. Kemp's surgical expertise was precise in rendering such positive results. Moreover his professional yet personable demeanor allowed for a comforting and reassuring experience before and after the surgery. We would highly recommend Dr. Kemp to anyone needing the attention of a highly accomplished spinal surgeon.

Satisfied patient
I have been dealing with back pain for 10 years. I’ve had a lumbar spine ablation and 2 hip replaced So I finally was referred to a surgeon and I chose VA Spine institute. So back MRI showed problems but Dr Kemp said he needed an MRI of my neck. I was in shock when he said he needed to operate on my neck. I just wanted the back pain to go away. But he said the neck was more urgent. I trusted him. Had neck surgery yesterday 6/5/2023. I feel better today without any narcotics, just over the counter type medicine , than I did before surgery. Sore neck front and back, but no back pain. Amazing. He’s so thorough. I give him an 11 on a score of 1-10.

Thank You Dr Kemp!
I highly recommend Dr. Kemp, the neurosurgeon at the Virginia Spine Institute. I saw him after seeing several other spine surgeons in the area. He took the time to listen to me, performed a very thorough exam, and explained all of my imaging to me. No one had done that before and that meant everything. When it came time for surgery, I knew I was in good hands! The surgery was successful and my back and leg pain are gone. If you are a patient and have already received an opinion, make sure you get one more with Dr. Kemp! Thank you to Dr. Kemp, his staff, and the Virginia Spine Institute!
