Most Disrespectful Customer Service EVER!
I have been delighted with Dr. Michael Domer and will remain his patient! However, one of the partner's staff has been absolutely awful! Dr. Stevens's scheduling team has not responded to any of our 14-plus requests for surgery! We have been calling for over two weeks (once a day) in an effort to schedule surgery for my wife's back, and we can't get a SINGLE returned call! We are one call away from transferring her chart to another surgeon to have this procedure done. I have NEVER felt more disrespected by any doctor's office, ever!

Terrible attitude!!!
I went because I was newly diagnosed with severe scoliosis. the first question he said to me after seeing that I had taken psych meds years ago that I probably wasn't stable mentally enough to have massive back surgery. that was in the first 60 seconds of the appointment and it went downhill from there. although he seems to be a knowledgeable and skilled doctor his bedside manner is the pits!! I decided to go see other doctors and get a second and third opinions and I'm glad I didn't cuz I found somebody even more skilled and knowledgeable and with a very kind and professional bedside manner. bottom line I found somebody much better for me and you can probably do the same. don't settle for anything less than the best and that includes the manner which you're treated!!!

I HAVE BEEN SEEING DR STEVENS AND AMY FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THEY ARE PERSONABLE, VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND THOROUGH IN EXPLAINING YOUR MEDICAL ISSUE(S). THEY LOOK AT DIFFERENT OPTIONS(IF APPLICABLE), NOT JUST SURGERY.

Spinal Fusion L5 S1 L4 L5
I started seeing Dr. Stevens approximately 5 years ago culminating with fusion. He ran me through the standard protocol that I went through 18 tears earlier when I had L5 S1 fused, PT, cortisone injections, diet and exercise. Dr. Stevens is a very serious professional. While his serious nature may bother those looking for a 'great bedside manor' I prefer a seasoned, successful surgeon. My wife is now seeing hin regarding her scoliosis because of my successful fusion.Thank you Dr. Stevens.

Terrible
Went with my wife to see Dr. Stevens regarding a mouth fracture of her T6 vertebrae and ongoing pain. the first thing he asked us was if we were there for a surgical consultation when we told him no the appointment went downhill from there he was very arrogant, condescending, almost nasty, very impersonal and very non-empathetic. He basically told my wife that her fracture was healed, and there was nothing he could do about it and our back would never be the same. all he could suggest was a referral to pain management this was a very discouraging and depressing meeting and I hope he does better in the operating room than he does with his office visits. I do not recommend him.

What makes a great doctor? A competent diagnosis, treatment and aftercare. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and as a result, suffered from numbness in my feet as well as muscle weakness. As a result, I had a laminectomy performed and part of 2 vertebral bones removed. The surgery was a success without any complications and one week post-surgery I am nearly pain-free and able to move around. Doctor Williams took plenty of time to answer all of my questions, he was polite and respectful and has a good sense of humor. If I ever need a spine surgeon again, he will be my first choice. On a side note, people need to understand the system better. If you are overweight like I am, the first thing you will hear is lose weight. Less weight will put less stress on the joints. Next, healthcare providers require PT followed by injections. The last resort is always surgery.

I felt rushed and dismissed .
The office staff were actually very nice. They were understanding and I felt bad because the office waiting room was full of patients. I have the understanding that a full waiting room and office running behind can happen for a variety of reasons. However, the chief of which is usually the management. So I instantly felt empathy for them When I finally got in, 90 minutes behind my appointment schedule, I felt rushed and dismissed. I have been experiencing sciatic pain that stops me from walking and causes incontinence for two years. I'm only twenty years old and relatively healthy. Dr. Stevens made me do a bunch of tests with no explanation as to why. Then recommended physical therapy without saying the source of my pain. He said it wasn't my scoliosis or how I sit or anything. He just said 'everyone experiences back pain' which, while true, every twenty year old is not having to use a walker just to get out of bed. If you HAVE to see him it's fine, I just think they're better options

This man has a special gift. He is the only surgeon I know who will do work on the spine that other surgeons won’t do. Anything less than a 5 star rating is questionable.

Worst experience with a physician in my lifetime. I was treated as if I was bothering him. Dr. Stevens was rough in his physical examination and showed no concern or compassion for my pain. His recommendation was to never lift anything heavier than 10 pounds and to get a different job. I had to ask him what the results were of the x-rays of my back injury, as well as what was causing pain and even what the treatment should be. I have seen two other surgeons from OrthoArizona who were fantastic, thorough, pro-active, and were genuinely concerned for my well-being. Dr. Stevens is a disgrace to this practice and to the pratice of medicine.

I was referred to Dr. Stevens by my PCP after having problems with my sciatic nerve and stenosis. When I went to see him I waited 40 minutes before being called back to an exam room. Once in the room I was questioned by his assistant before seeing him. When he finally came to the room he was dismissive and rude. He almost seemed disinterested in my reason for being there as though I was wasting his time. He said he was a surgeon, I didn’t need surgery, and ended the visit. He didn’t ask me anything about my symptoms, my imaging results or anything. My visit took only a few minutes. I would not recommend Dr. Stevens to anyone. If you want a dr that cares even the slightest I would suggest seeing someone else.

Hands of a god!
I have been seeing Dr. Stevens for over 5 years now. The last time I was a patient in his care I couldn’t move my right hand and couldn’t sit. When I woke up after surgery, my hand instantly worked again. I am telling you, this man has the hands of a god. I wouldn’t trust anyone else to come near my spine. His bedside manner is amazing as are his stories from the Army and his past! I love that him and I can rib each other around about our branches. It makes it more personal to know about your surgeon and, for me, it put me at ease. I also appreciate that he doesn’t beat around the bush. If he knows a certain treatment isn’t for you, he will tell you. It saves me money and both of us time that could be used for other patients. I recommend him to anyone I speak to about back issues. As bad as my back is, I actually look forward to my appointments with him and I don’t stress, because I know he’s got my back. Physically and metaphorically!

Brusque & Impatient Tone
After completing & submitting 8-page & 3-page questionnaires, and waiting at least 30 min in the waiting room, I expected to be asked about some of my responses to these questionnaires. He neither asked nor replied to questions about concerns I raised about a possible internal injury that may have occurred along with the compression fractures about which I was seeing him. Also, instead of responding to concerns about my parathyroid taking calcium away from my bones, he just said I shouldn’t use step stools, because my fall off one caused the injury. He said that no MRI would be done since I was ‘getting better’. I take general precautions because I live alone, but he seemed to ignore that & made impractical recommendations for living my life as a 70-year old with osteoporosis, aside from saying that I have to be careful not to break either leg bone near my artificial hips; I had both replaced due to osteoarthritis in 2011 & 2014.

Skilled, Caring and Compassionate
I recently had the pleasure of getting established as a patient at Dr. Steven's practice for evaluation of a complex spinal deformity and severe spinal stenosis. Both Dr. Stevens and his PA were very professional, caring and compassionate. I have been to other neuro/spinal surgeons in the past who presented a fairly bleak picture and uncertain outcome due to complexity of my case. Although, Dr. Stevens recommended essentially the same procedure, this time it was different. I felt truly listened to and cared for as a patient and for the unique individual that I am. I have a sense of peace and confidence that Dr. Stevens was not going to propose any procedure or intervention unless he felt that he could truly help me and achieve a good outcome. The practice was very busy on the day I was seen but both Dr. Stevens and his PA took ample time with me to thoroughly review my MRI findings, xrays, and plan of care. I feel very blessed and know that I have come to the right practice.
