At our annual visit in 2021, my autistic son fought the dilation drops. I imagine that happens often, special needs or not. Dr Young was so rude and obviously irritated. He said that on our next visit I needed to dilate his eyes PRIOR to arriving in the office. We arrived for our 2022 Appt 20 mins early after driving from Thomasville. Upon arrival, I was told that I had to reschedule our visit, because my 12 yo daughter wasn't allowed in office per their absurd Covid policy that I was never given. Keep in mind, WE DILATED MY SONS EYES PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. I mean it when I say choose ANY other doctor. The staff is rude, the doctor is rude. I will never go back.

My son was a patient of Dr. Young's for 9 years until we moved out of the area. My son, who is a special needs child and did not always follow directions, was always treated respectfully and with patience. When Dr. Young performed surgery on my child, he recognized my concern and reassured me in a most kind way. We greatly appreciate Dr. Young, and Paul, and we miss them.

Dr. Young is an angel on earth. My daughter had a brain surgery to remove a brain tumor in January of 2010. She also had a stroke during the surgery. Dr. Young began seeing my daughter in March of 2010. In January of 2011, my daughter required eye surgery due to impairments from the brain tumor. Dr. Young performed the surgery. I will never forget the words he said to me as the nurse began to transport my daughter to the operating room. Dr. Young said to me, "I will care for and treat Maggie as though she were my own child." He is one of the most gentle, loving and kind physicians I have ever met. He is also incredibly intelligent. I am forever grateful for what he has done for my daughter and our family.

My special needs son has been seeing Dr. Young for 18+ years now and we can’t say enough how grateful and thankful we are. Dr. Young and Paul both are very kind and compassionate. With multiple visits over the years and through surgeries we couldn’t be happier with his care. We are so blessed to have found such a good man and great Doctor. The office staff and Kid Specs are also very friendly and professional.

He is an excellent doctor and we trust his decisions with our children's eye care! Everyone in the office is genuinely happy to see you and take care of you. Dr. Young does very well taking care of my nonverbal daughter. He is direct, but gentle. She is happy to oblige to his request while he examines her eyes. She leaves feeling attended to. And as parents we leave feeling comfort in his current care and plan for the future.

Dr. Young is always professional and thorough. My daughter is intellectually disabled with a very complex medical history. Dr. Young has a very quiet demeanor but is always patient and willing to answer all my questions. I have referred many other special needs parents to Dr. Young and do not hesitate to continue to do so.

I have a 31 year old daughter with Intellectual Disabilities who has seen Dr. Young since 2009. He has worked with us so well. Just a few of the many things he has done for us include seeing her in a surgical center with her OBGYN under sedation and given us drops to administer the night before and morning of her visit for dilation. He speaks directly to her treating her respect and dignity. I don't know what we would do without Dr. Young. We are grateful for his attention and kindness.

Dr Young has been horrible to my child during every visit. My son is a very sweet, gentle little boy with autism. He has a low IQ and does not understand instructions. Dr Young has yelled at him, become physically aggressive towards him, and has caused my child to break out in hives due to fear. We paid for his medical records and have waited for 15 days and counting with no receipt. We called and it has not even been printed. Please do NOT take a child with developmental delays or special needs to this man.

Dr. Young preformed my strabismus surgery and I am very pleased with my results. I am 68 years old and have worked in ophthalmology for a few years and I found Dr. Young to be very professional, sympathetic to my concerns, highly skilled and I would recommend to him to all my family and friends. Also, his staff was first class.

Dr Young is a very arrogant and disrespectful Doctor. My child was worked into his schedule as an emergency, which was nice, BUT he made us feel like we were taking up his 'valuable time'. A complete eye exam was not done, even though she was complaining of sudden blurry vision. When Dr Young didn't think she was trying, he threatened her, saying the next step would be a test where a needle would have to go in her arm. She still didn't pass upsetting her more. 0 recommendation from mad parent.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Young?
Both of our children have been patients of Dr. Young’s for a few years. During our recent visit, we mentioned to Dr. Young that we had consulted with two other doctors in an effort to determine the problem our child is having with vision. Once that was mentioned, Dr. Young’s demeanor became patronizing, confrontational and totally unprofessional. He was visibly upset and very concerned that we had gotten other opinions. The visit became more about him and less about our child.
