Not for Chiari Malformation Patients
I recently visited Dr. Comair for a consultation regarding Chiari Decompression Surgery, following a recent diagnosis and several symptoms consistent with Chiari Type I Malformation. While Dr. Comair was kind, the experience left me feeling discouraged and frustrated. I symptoms, including episodes of paralysis, which Dr. Comair dismissed, stating that paralysis is not a symptom of CM I. When I inquired about possible causes for the paralysis, he responded, 'I don't know, you'll want to talk to your neurologist.' This response felt dismissive as I've been in pain and was referred to him for help, just to be referred back. While I am willing to give Dr. Comair the benefit of the doubt—perhaps he wasn't fully familiar with the condition, as he is not listed as one of the specialists on the Chiari Malformation page of the Johns Hopkins website (which states that paralysis is in fact, listed a symptom of Chiari Malformation) I still cannot recommend him based on my experience.

From broken neck to better than ever
Dr. Comair helped me heal my broken neck (surfing accident) from the emergency room to six month later. He wisely decided not to perform surgery, immediately put me in hard collar for seven weeks and followed up for a period of six months. He expertly advised me when I could start physical therapy, swimming, cycling and running. My neck is now as strong as ever. He is supported by an excellent team of nurse practitioner, physician's assistant and office staff.

Excellent Doctor
We are blessed to have Dr. Comair as part of the team overlooking my daughter’s case. My daughter was born with the most sever form of Spina Bifida and Dr Comair did an amazing surgery when she was 8 months old. She is 9 years old and being able to walk independently.

Dr. Comair is technically knowledgeable but he is terrible in follow ups, he doesn't give enough time to the patient to explain about his condition and about the results of the surgery he did. Also he does not answer questions and clarify what to expect after surgery and how to recover fast. Before and after my craniatomy, dr. Comair did not give me clear answers about what to expect after surgery and he even did not explain to me the biopsy results. I am doing extensive research to understand the biopsy results and to learn how to recover fast.

Dr. Comair was terrible to my aunt. He made her a wrong operation and then refused to do a follow-up operation to fix his mistakes. He should be ashamed, and he should be ethically kicked out of medicine. I have never seen anyone that consciousless. Avoid at any cost. Plus: you can't even reach him when needed!
