Informative
My husband and I visited Dr. Wang, our first oncology appointment after my husband received a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. We were both impressed with the amount of time Dr. Wang spent with us explaining my husband's cancer as well as his options. We didn't have a feeling of a ticking clock that the appointment needed to conclude and he needed to move on. His compassion, honesty, and knowledge are greatly appreciated.

Lacking compassion and understanding
When diagnosed with cancer my mother (82) was very clear that her priority was quality of life vs quantity. She opted not to have surgery but was open to chemo. Despite her priorities Wang recommend an aggressive 6 cycles of chemo and 5 weeks of radiation. He assured us the treatment could be dialed back depending on how she reacted to it. At the start of chemo she was living independently & before she finished the first cycle she could no longer walk and needed around the clock help. We went back to see Wang concerned about the rapid decline but were blown off & pushed to finish the round despite the impact. When we decided to seek a second opinion I was told it would take 3 weeks for them to send them. Wang’s lack of compassion & understanding of what his patients want is disturbing. If he had his way he would have continued to push my mom to continue with treatment no matter what the affects on her. Skip Wang and head to Roswell instead, much better care with compassion.

Cancels appointment without notice
I called on the morning of my scheduled appointment today with Dr Wang to confirm that I would be seeing him because I never received the reminder call. I was told that I was confirmed to see him as scheduled. I told them I needed to be sure since I have over an hour drive from my home. I arrived at my appointment about 30 minutes early and was told I would see a PA. They had no reason for the change. I said I had confirmed my appointment with Dr Wang and needed to see him because I was told I needed to see him in person and was not allowed to have televisits until he saw me. I asked if he was there and was told he was ,but after the receptionist called to someone and told them the situation, I was told I would have to reschedule. This after his staff had changed my previous appointment with him to the one today that was supposed to be with Dr. Wang. At this point I’m not sure there is a reason to make a new appointment since they will change it for no reason and not tell me.

I just want to say, I am so grateful for this doctor. Doctors didn't want to treat my mom, thinking she had only a little time left. Dr. Wang advocated for her and thought she could still have some quality of life left. This was about 2 years ago. I still have my mom and have been able to make some meaningful memories with her. She has been able to get to know her baby (now toddler), granddaughter. None of this would have been possible without this doctor who fought for my mother. He's just a wonderful human being.
