Dr Chen was tight in point with my X-rays and put his finger on what was the situation at Hans. Very observant. And most helpful in managing my pain.

Dr. Chen is wonderful. He not only listens to your problem but is compassionate and understanding. In my book he is the BEST. His professionalism shows through his treatment and goes beyond. I highly recommend him.

If you want a condescending, rude, arrogant doctor who does not listen then come see Dr Chen. He simply does not care about his patients. He constantly interrupts when you are trying to explain your pain. He talks over you. He does not discuss any type of treatment except pain meds twice a day. He does not look at non narcotic options and ignores you when you say his treatment isn't working. If you complain to UPMC they do nothing. When I complained to him about my care he said "I gave you 20 min of my time". He wished me luck finding another pain doctor because he would ensure that I have a hard time. My PCP found his treatment inappropriate for my diagnosis. Go to anyone else- He is awful.

Made appointent took a month, got in he was like a politician dancing around most things but those he wanted to do never addressing my medications which were non narcotic. He never said as when I needed a refill that thru his Office Mgn Laura he doesn't fill Omezroprole(Nexium). Then after requesting a refill on a Friday with the Nurse, had no issues with any medications told me they would be sent over. No Problem, called Pharmacy nothing, called office on Tuesday and the scripts where never sent over. Got a return call from office mgn Laura who told me they would not fill while my old Doctor was writing them. I said I don't want to go there anymore and I' m out of meds, and Dr Chen is doing a surgical procedure and not going to fill my scripts, well she he will fill 2 not the Nexium then said he just won't like Valium, etc. Wonder what he does when someone has claustrophobic. What a clown, then told her after all form I filled out and who gets billed they billed wrong insurance.

I rarely leave reviews for Drs, but Dr. Chen was exceptional! The appointment was great from the time I walked up to check in to the Monroeville office where his staff was pleasant and funny. The assistant that came in was definitely a bit rushed but there were also a lot of people there waiting so I understand that, though she was rushed she was never rude or uncaring. The practitioner was a lovely lady and very thorough with her questions and explanation of what the likely plan of treatment would be. Dr. Chen has so much personality from the time he walks in the door to the time he leaves! This man took the time to pull up the images of my MRI and explain everything to me! I have never in my life had a Dr do this! Finally, his nurse was just amazing! She was so kind and understanding, she also took a lot of time explaining medication to me and talking to me about next steps for an injection. I cannot recommend this team/office/physician enough!

I would not under any circumstances recommend Chen. He will not address your pain issues at all. He left me in constant ongoing pain without any help.

I loved meeting with Dr. Chen and his staff. They took their time with me, went over all my records, listened to what I wanted, and discussed my treatment. I want to do everything as holistically as possible, staying away from pills, harsh therapy, and PT, and Dr. Chen was completely supportive.
