Alan is one of a kind - loyal patient for 4+ years
Telehealth
In the 4 years I've been seeing Alan, he has been instrumental in my healing and growth spiritually, emotionally and mentally. I was a broken person even when I thought I'd done everything I could to heal. I sometimes forget how much of a transformation I've made until I look back to who I was in 2020. I'm a completely different Kate. And I'm the happiest I've ever been as an adult. He's the most caring, forthcoming & intelligent psychologist, or any therapist for that matter, that I've ever met in 15+ years of on and off therapy. I wish everyone could have an Alan in their life but he is truly one of a kind. I respect his transparency and honesty, not many therapists will call you out on your unhealthy behaviors or ways of thinking but he does so in an inquisitive, empathetic and understanding way that helps you get to know yourself for the first time and learn what makes you tick. All I can say is, if you're searching for healing or looking for a change or an 'answer', talk to Alan.

The best therapist I've see
Like he knew me and then I got to know myself and then I made decisions for MYSELF. It was weird feeling that for the first time in my life I could think through big things and it was me deciding and not advice from people. It is weird to have confidence for the first time ever because my whole life was controlled and bad and made me feel inadequate and stupid so people would tell me what to do, even the good ones. But Dr Alan immediately so respected me and taught me to find answers and find my self and think and think hard about what to do and where and why. Never TELLING me to do this or that. I became confident! I learned to think, that's all!

Very highly recommended
I was referred to Dr.Zimmerman by a colleague who was going through a very difficult time and stated that he had helped saved his family. Since then myself and several other people close to me have had incredible help from Dr.Zimmerman in overcoming very deeply rooted traumas as well as learning skills to cope with the unique challenges we face. I am incredibly grateful for the improvements I've seen in myself and close family who have worked with him. I would absolutely recommend Dr.Zimmerman to anyone who is dealing with trauma/ptsd or other mental health challenges.

So smart and nice. And really funny, in a nice and relaxed way. Made my teen and husband and me so comfortable and so fast to get right to the problem. Our eyes opened so much and what a relief. We understand each other so much better. We have tried other counselors that all just listened or gave their opinions. Dr Zimmerman was so different. Highest recommendation if you need help.

I have seen multiple therapists over the years with mixed results at best. From the onset, Dr. Zimmerman was clearly, and by far, the most intuitive, personable, skilled and warm therapist I have met. I have referred no fewer than five colleagues or friends who, to a person, experienced the same extremely high quality of care. He is singularly talented and provided me with clarity (and healing) about past trauma, difficult parenting issues and a complex marital situation. If you meet him, do not expect the cheap advice and personal bias that so often characterizes far too many therapists' approaches. His patients are fortunate indeed.

Saw Dr. Zimmerman for awhile. His style of therapy isn't for me as it felt like nothing was ever worked through or accomplished. In the end it proved to be very frustrating. On the plus side he is very non-judgmental, patient, and of even temperament. Okay to talk to about the small stuff, just wish for the big stuff therapy was of more help.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Zimmerman?
Has left a scarred relationship with son. Typical session is "Dr." Zimmerman with bravado making assertions, pumping son up, and setting up for failure. Commits family to goals and timelines without consulting and doing so if front of son on the fly during session leading to more disillusionment. No continuity, each session out of control. No recognition of family dynamics or other challenges (i.e. autistic brother!). Should be reviewed and undergo training or remove license.

I was a patient of Dr. Zimmerman’s several years ago and happened to have an appointment at the same office suite today and felt like sharing my experience. I have been to a handful of psychiatrists and therapists throughout the years and Dr. Zimmerman stands out. He was Intelligent, insightful, a good listener and I always felt that he cared about me and it showed up in our work. I couldnt have asked for a better person to help me at that time in my life. I would highly recommend trying him out

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Zimmerman?
I accompanied my 18-year-old son, who is having depression issues, to an initial visit with Alan Zimmerman. This therapist was dismissive about the seriousness of my son’s depression after glancing at a survey and before even talking with him. He also was belittling of descriptions of emotional and verbal abuse. Zimmerman’s style of counseling is aggressive in questioning; bullying and controlling of conversations; dismissive and judgmental of concerns, comments and feelings.

Our family is very appreciative of Dr. Zimmerman's welcoming all family members and girlfriend to join our son in his sessions. This helped all of us understand what our son was working on and helped us better support him. We credit Dr. Z with saving our son's life.
