Alice Furman is an outstanding therapist
I've worked with Alice for almost a year and I cannot say enough great things about her. I absolutely cannot relate Alice to the other negative review that someone here left. Everyone is unique and not every therapist is going to match well with every client, that's absolutely normal. Don't leave a review if you've only had a few calls with the therapist. Having worked with her all this time, I can say for sure that she has been tremendously helpful in so many ways. I loved the fact that she doesn't go by a strict process unlike many other therapists. That never helped me. I love her personal approach to therapy and how she suggests things to try when I don't know what else to do. We've ended every single session (not an exaggeration) with me feeling much better than before. On top of this, she has now helped me even more through EMDR technique. I can't recommend her enough. Note, if you want someone to go by the book, she's not for you, move on and forget about reviews.

DARVO warning. I consulted briefly with Alice, and in that time she told me how kind, brilliant, and wonderful she is. Alice told me she was an ‘expert’ in treating dissociation, but then lashed out when I asked her what made her an expert. I let her know I did not want to work with her, and I ended the call. Alice later sent me an email blaming me for her outburst, offering to work with me, and saying this had happened to her before. I’d advise avoiding her at all costs. DARVO is an acronym for "deny, attack, and reverse victim and offender". It is a common manipulation strategy of psychological abusers.[1][2][3] The abuser denies the abuse ever took place, attacks the victim for attempting to hold the abuser accountable, and claims that they, the abuser, are actually the victim in the situation, thus reversing the reality of the victim and offender.[1][3] This usually involves not just "playing the victim" but also victim blaming.[2]
