Progressive and Accommodating
I've made tremendous strides forward with this therapist. She's open minded; continues to educate herself; makes sure everyone gets their full appointment time, even if somebody in crisis needs extra time and she has to run a little late (not an alteration to scheduling that works for everybody, but it's outstanding for those of us who need it); respects my right under NYS law to make my own decisions; gets where I'm coming from with both my personal history and the ways in which I'm marginalized; and adjusts for my individual ability to direct my own course, rather than just trying to 'fix' or advise me. I have a strong personality, and she matches that without crushing me. She listens well, which is particularly important for me as an Autistic, and she makes me feel safe as someone who has, for a variety of reasons, been mistreated and had difficulty being heard, believed, and taken seriously. She does video appointments and F2F, whichever I need.
