Dr. Barney Greenspan, PHD

I came to Dr. Greenspan in the hopes of receiving a diagnosis so that I could start treatment. We had many sessions over multiple years (in retrospect, in our last appointment that I scheduled last minute, I was manic during). His diagnosis was that I had "mild Dysthymia". Less than 2 years later, I finally received a proper diagnosis when I was hospitalized & committed- the Bipolar form of Schizoaffective Disorder, Severe Anxiety Disorder, and Severe Alcohol Use Disorder. This diagnosis led to the medication that allows me to live productively- a mood stabilizer & an anti-psychotic. I wish that Dr. Greenspan had helped provide the help for me that I was seeking instead of encouraging me to meditate. Since starting medication, I've worked full-time, completed my Associate's Degree and will graduate with a Bachelor's this fall. I no longer drink nor smoke. My kids have the mom that they deserve. Looking back, the symptoms were all there, I'm not sure how he missed so much.
