Competent Doctor, long waits, less-competent staff
My last three visits involved a wait of from 20 to 50 minutes AFTER my appointment time to see Dr. Gauer. The final one (the 50-minute one) I walked out. I won't be back. She seems to have a hard time hanging onto staff--the ones that are trained on the initial-screening tests they do before you see the doctor. So you might get a trainee, or someone new and just 'solo-ing' on the tests. At my last appointment--and one of the reasons I walked out--I had a test done that required for me to concentrate. The tech kept moving the machine and talking during the test: impossible to concentrate. So the results had to have been invalid. That did not however stop them from billing me for that test. I paid the bill, but it wasn't fair. I think Dr. Gauer has overextended herself. Maybe to pay for the new wing she just added, I don't know. Either way, I've found a better Optometric practice to use.

Dr Gauer was the third eye doctor I saw when I first needed to get glasses. The first two doctors rushed me in and out of their office and I ended up with two pairs of glasses that never did fit well and I couldn't wear them (out several hundred $ too). Dr. Gauer took a little longer and asked practical questions about what I needed my glasses to do for me. She prescribed a pair of glasses that I could actually use and now I'm on my third pair from her. AAA+++
