Dr. Brandon Nelms, OD

I went to see Dr Nelms because I was having some strange vision problems. He diagnosed me with swollen optic nerves and sent me straight to the ER. He knew that was a real emergency and would not let me squirm out of going to the ER no matter how I tried. He was right, I was diagnosed with cerebral hypertension and needed emergency surgery to save my sight. I will always be grateful to Dr Nelms!!

Dr. Nelms and his staff truly treat each patient as a human being, and work tirelessly and positively to resolve vision issues. They cared more about assisting me than the local surgeon who gave bad advice and permanently damaged my eye and vision to the point it interfering with my livelihood. In contrast, Dr. Nelms always has been transparent and honest, putting patient needs over padding his income. I wish he had been my eye doctor all along. I’ve learned that an optometrist can be more knowledgeable, experienced, and trustworthy than some opthakmologists. Dr. Nelms and staff might not have been able to fix the problem another practice / Dr. created, but I am confident they have it their all and truly were invested in finding a solution, not churning patients to maximize $. They treat with respect and dignity, and actually care about patients. I learned very painfully that the same is not true of every eye practice around Athens.

Dr. Nelms is great! His office is equipped with recent technology and he is personable. I see better than ever with his care. I am also pleased with how he works with my children. He will be my doctor until he retires!
