I was a patient of Dr. Hayes for over 1 year and saw him for this time with typical text book signs and symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Since I was a nurse, finishing up my graduate program to become a Nurse Practitioner, I shared my thoughts and concerns that it might be MS. He shot down every single thought I had and just started giving me all sorts of medication, that didn’t help. At our last appointment he called me a HYPOCHONDRIAC. Because of that I stopped going to any medical provider, thinking he may be right. Nope, I was right and he was negligent. Instead of ordering a MRI that could have proved me or him right, he chose to call me a hypochondriac and send me on my way. In the ER, the MRI (that I should have had under his care but didn’t) showed over 60 brain lesions. After spending almost 2 months in the hospital, learning how to walk, speak, toilet, dress and feed myself, I had to retire at the age of 45. His negligence stole the back half of my life.
