Skilled but has issues
She was very helpful for the first couple sessions. I think that she is skilled with EMDR but doesn't really listen to what you are telling her. I saw her described as professional and unprofessional in the series of reviews I read before starting work with her. I think she is very professional until you disagree with her. She got very stuck in her preconceived ideas of the causes of my issues including some events that didn't occur that she tried to convince did. She got very condescending and gaslighty but I was still convinced she could help due to her skillset. When I very calmly voiced my concerns without any insult to her, she got pretty angry cutting me off multiple times towards the end of the session and then dropped me as a patient saying that I'm not ready. I think it is likely she has issues of her own that she needs to work through before she'll be able to work with certain cases effectively. She gets a 3 for the help she provided before she became fixated

Only had 2 sessions with her but right off the bat she made me very uncomfortable and talked down to me. She would bring up her own family life which to me is very unprofessional. She made me lose hope in therapy so I’ve just been suffering alone for a while now. I remember her straight up telling me my previous diagnoses “weren’t true”, who says that to someone crying in your room??? Seems like it’s more of a job to her than a passion.

Unprofessional- did more damage than good!
I saw Carol to help with some issues I was having with my teenage daughter. My daughter was assaulted and was understandably struggling. I saw Carol to lend support to me and advise me on how to help her get through this hard time. My daughter was seeing a counselor and I decided to see one as well. Carol seemed good at first. Then the focus was … more about my ROLE in her assaults. No kidding! You cannot make this stuff up! She insinuated that I was ill prepared to warn my daughter and made it seem like I’d sheltered her from reality! I don’t know of anyone who would know how to see the future and prepare for a crime of assault! I feel this “therapist” should not be in practice. I even asked her to clarify thinking I’d misheard her meaning/comments. I had not. She said “these things are hard to hear!” I am now seeing a counselor at Red Oak close-by in Brookfield! A much better place and all is going well! Horrible experience - spare yourself and go elsewhere!

Carol has done more for me in the year I’ve seen her than for the past 3-5 years of traditional talk therapists—Between the EMDR and the way she’s able to point out the connections I’m making on my own, and with her insights to help me see things in a different way, one that doesn’t match the thought habits of trauma I’ve been carrying/reliving for so long. She is precise and direct, so maybe not the best therapist for those not ready to get in there and do some serious work on themselves. But I liken her abilities to a very empathic hand utilizing a scalpel—helping me to cut out the mental tumors that have been buried inside for so long. Don’t expect therapy/EMDR to be easy—it’s not. But she does what is necessary to ensure your safety and health. Carol is a very intuitive and grounded therapist, with a clear head and excellent at demonstrating healthy boundaries. As long as you’re willing to do the hard work, she is a life-changer.

Saw her twice. She got my name wrong and didn't seem to remember why I came to see her both times although we spoke about why I was coming to her before I came in. I was seeing her to try to get through a really hard breakup and she asked for my HUSBAND'S name over the phone at one point. Very unprofessional.

Extremely unprofessional. Unable to keep her own emotions out of client work. She drives the agenda and often interrupts the client. She often snaps first and spends time apologizing later. I would highly recommend seeing someone else.

I saw Carol and found her to be helpful initially. However, when I needed clarification on something she became defensive. Certainly, I was there to work on things. Yet if a therapist feels that they are “right” and become combative while you’re trying to understanding an issue then how is this helpful? I don’t know where the communication went wrong but I couldn’t get clarity on an important issue. In my experience I would avoid her. I’m ended up feeling defeated, frustrated and confused.

You felt I had found the therapist that worked well for me, but within a few visits her tone changed. The nature of our talk turned to a blame session instead of guidance. I was there for change not blame. Not criticism. Help resolving some things. Avoid. There are plenty of caring therapists who help and don’t harm. She’s harmful.

I am currently going through a divorce and met with Carol. I felt I was going to get help from her but she ended up blaming me for things out of my control. I’ve had therapy in the past and never have been blamed. There’s always been a way of communicating that helps without causing more pain. When I asked for clarification it was clear I was being blamed and the skill set here is not one of interactive solutions. It was hurtful and harmful.

My son saw her and her t started out very well. We thought we found a good fit but then when he was struggling she blamed us and it seemed that she herself had issues she needed to work through. Therapists are personal fits and that’s obvious but blaming seems to be a theme for her and that’s unacceptable for healing. We are open to helpful advice even criticism but we cross the line at blame! Very unfortunate.
