Relaxed environment, excellent care
The first thing I noticed when I walked into Dr. Sitzman’s office was how calm and lovely her waiting room and office are. Following in this vein, Dr. Sitzman was warm, welcoming and very professional. She asked me thoughtful, interesting questions and left ample time for me to reflect and respond. I never thought I’d say this about therapy, but I actually enjoyed our session! I look forward to working with her and feel confident I’m in the right hands for my very sensitive problems.

Transformative and Knowledgeable Therapist!
I have worked with Cathi for nearly 10 years, and during that time, she helped me address and heal from some of the deepest challenges and trauma I both knew I had to address and didn't even know were adversely impacting my life. She helped me discover ways in which to empower myself--and is one of the first people (and therapists)--to help me find my voice and has helped me to use it wisely and effectively. Cathi is so skilled, she expertly and intuitively understood what I was struggling with. She is not only an experienced therapist--she is also knowledgeable on so many issues and fields--public health, medicine, politics, arts and culture, religion, executive coaching methods/approaches, parenting, marital relations, women's health, and so much more. This knowledge and experience gives her a unique insight into her patients in all realms of life and stages of life. I can say that Cathi has transformed how I work, interact with people/friends, parent, and engage with my spouse.

Cathi Sitzman, Ph.D.
Cathi is a “therapist’s therapist,” I should know, being a therapist myself, and collaborating on cases with Cathi for over 35 years. Her clinical expertise and experience is second to none in the DC metropolitan area. She is kind and thoughtful and immediately puts patients at ease in her tranquil office which is easily accessible by public transportation. She has a lively sense of humor which quickly puts people at ease. If you want to see results along your therapeutic journey and have fun in the process, Cathi is definitely the therapist for you!

Insightful consultant
I have seen many therapist but Cathi Sitzman by far has been the most helpful. I was referred to her by my internist following a period of great upset in my life. For the first time in many years I felt calm, happy and that I could have a good future. Thank you Dr Sitzman.

Terrific Experience
Dr. Sitzman actually helped me on my very first visit. She understood my problem and helped clarify what was making me so stuck with making a decision. Instead of just reflecting back what I was saying she showed me how circular and non -productive my thinking was. Was an incredible first visit!

Outstanding Psychologist-Highly Recommend
Dr Sitzman is kind, empathetic, bright and logical. She helped me through a very difficult period in my life and gave me insights that helped free me from issues that kept popping up when ever I was emotionally struggling. With other therapist I felt like I was talking to a wall; but Dr Sitzman was truly emotionally present. She never used “therapy speak” and always made me feel secure and heard; but she also challenged me to think through situations instead of just emotionally reacting to them. I found Dr. Sitzman’s combination of insight and her ability to get me to really think to be life changing and has allowed me to go forward without so much emotional baggage. She is truly a wise person.

Great Therapist
The thing that makes Cathi a great therapist is that she's got your back from the first session. If she's not the right fit, she'll help find you someone else. But when she *is* the right fit, what you get is her full attentive presence -- and a partner for shifts that often bring both pain and joy. She's been a Top Doc in DC for multiple years, plus other leadership roles and accolades. Given that complex trauma is the gift that keeps on giving, being able to regularly lean on Cathi's skill and compassion makes a real difference.
