My wife was in St Vincents South for kidney stone removal, and without my knowledge, Cynthia Gist prescribed a fast-acting insulin, Humalog and sent the prescription home, without any training or instructions, other than what was on the box. they were having trouble maintaining a proper sugar level. The insulin pins are almost identical to her slow acting insulin, and I saw her with the needle in her stomach about to inject 100 units of Humalog into her stomach, which would have killed her. She was in the hospital for kidney problems, I was aware of her diabetes situation, and had made plans to get her to an endocrinologist, but nobody at the hospital talked to me about her sugar levels or my intentions of correcting it. This borders on malpractice and My wife would have been dead within 30 minutes if I hadn't stopped her. Due to this horrifying incident, we will never be at patient St. Vincents South again, as they permitted her actions, and we certainly will not see Cynthia Gist.
