Patient and non-judgmental
Dr. Sheffield is professional, but warm and non-judgmental. When I first met with him, I wanted homework but his response was calm and grounded. He models healthy behavior. His listening skills and memory for my details, people, and places is strong... so the questions he raises are about my feelings (not details) which builds my awareness of emotional triggers. He does not take notes and gives his undivided attention. I have recommended him many times to others.

Compassionate, Non-judgmental Care
I have seen Dr. Sheffield for many years. In my 20s, I was suffering with anxiety, dissociation, and self harming. He helped me recognize significant childhood trauma as the cause and has taught me the tools I needed to heal and stay healthy. He is nonjudgemental, empathetic and compassionate. I still meet with him from time to time for support with grief or when I feel overwhelmed. He is a great listener, very patient, and creates a safe space where I feel seen and heard. Very highly recommend him!

Patient, empathetic approach to care
Dr. Sheffield is an extremely experienced therapist and his approach is definitely one of understanding and a genuine desire to help you get better. I had no problem feeling heard, even as a young woman. He led me through overcoming my OCD and that has tremendously improved my quality of life. And he's kind of funny! The co-pay (at least with my insurance) was extremely reasonable, too.

After trying therapist after therapist, I finally found Dr. Sheffield, who has empowered me and changed my life in ways I never thought possible. If you’ve been a victim of narcissistic abuse (or any form of abuse, really), he is an extremely nonjudgmental therapist who will help you explore ways to overcome the trauma in its aftermath. He creates an extremely safe space to talk about difficult topics, but he works hard at the same time to help his clients make healthier decisions for themselves in the future, especially those who, like myself, were victims of childhood abuse. Through his guidance, I now consider myself a survivor of abuse and not a victim. My dating life has turned around for the better, too, as he’s helped me identify red flags in toxic individuals. I never thought I’d be able to overcome my past trauma, but through his confidence and help, I have. He puts clients first, is very reliable, and the best therapist in the triangle.

I've been seeing Dr. Sheffield for my anxiety following a very unexpected and highly sensitive time in my life. He has offered several useful techniques to help calm my anxiety. He is an excellent listener and offers a safe and non-judgmental place to open up and share what I need to work through. Dr. Sheffield has a very calming presence and has helped me to move forward in a positive way.
