This person should not be employed as a counselor. Most clinics like Lifewell that are fed their customer base almost exclusively from the court system hire former addicts as 'counselors'. The bar to become a mental health provider is very low in this state, which is why individuals like this are able to gain employment in one of the few fields that will employ an individual with a felony record and/ or a history of arrests for substance abuse. These people generally have no capacity for objective thought and simply regurgitate rhetoric without true understanding, which is the case with this individual.
