Always a pleasure

We couldn't agree more with what the review from Feb 07, 2019 stated. My oldest son has astigmatism that was so severe that he was not able to get a proper prescription for sport glasses due to the curvature of the lenses when he was little. He was unable to wear his normal, everyday glasses while playing sports because they were heavy and slipped down his nose and fogged up when he was sweating. He was crushed when his vision started to effect his pitching and hitting and knew it was going to hinder his game. Dr. Deepa was our last hope, after many doctors told us they did not have soft contacts that would be suitable for this vision. Dr. Deepa said she was not going to settle for that. She spent so much time with him investigating his issue and worked with us on many return visits and trial contacts until we found the best contacts for him. He was only 8 when he started wearing contacts and thanks to Dr. Deepa his athletic journey has continued and thrived.

1st visit. Thorough, engaging and concerned even in very routine encounter.

During the appt and after multiple follow up calls, she was very condescending and would not address the concerns I continued to express were bothersome in my daily life. She also insisted that I could not be helped there and continued to refer me to a non-vanderbilt facility that did not cover my insurance because she "trained there and knows they are the best". However, after speaking with another in house staff, there are actually multiple specialists within the Eye Institute that I can and am seeing now which are more than competent and covered by my insurance. Overall, a very disappointing experience to which I would sum up with the words: condescending, unprofessional, and inattentive.

Dr. Chandrasekaran fitted my son for special contact lens. She has changed his life. Without her knowledge and expertise, he would not be able to see well enough to drive, etc, which is extremely important for a teenage boy. I would highly recommend her. She is brilliant. I highly recommend her!
