I only saw Donna for a few sessions as we both felt the fit was not a positive one. First, I was only offered phone sessions which didn't support me in creating a solid rapport as I often felt my nonverbal cues were missed. Second, I left my sessions feeling disjointed and confused. I never felt like Donna supported me in understanding my triggers, coping pattern history, or my emotions; instead, I felt like the focus was primarily on sterile diagnoses and diagnostic criteria that only left me feeling more confused and poorly about myself. Lastly, I felt the feedback I was provided lacked insight in to my personal needs. I was repeatedly advised to utilize a coping skills that had already been discussed as maladaptive for me, yet I was advised this would be the best course. I felt helpless. She may be a better fit for someone that does not require unconditional positive regard, is not new to processing their trauma, or feels more in line with metaphysical healing.
