While Donna is very nice and friendly, I felt her bedside manner was lacking— every appointment my husband and I were asked what we did for work and the same questions followed. I understand she sees a lot of patients, but she didn’t keep notes and pretend to remember us. At my 22 week appointment, she asked me how many weeks along I was as she measured my belly; some people wouldn’t mind this, but I’d expect my doctor to know how many weeks I was with my chart pulled up. That can be forgiven, but what I can’t forgive was reading about a complication with our baby on mychart which said I had been called by Donna about. I had not been called, and I had to call the office multiple times to find out what was going on. This was a couple weeks after the complication had been found. Bringing it up to Donna she was not as apologetic as I’d expect from that big of a blunder. Also, she didn’t take my urine at every appointment, and I self diagnosed myself as having a UTI and asked for them to take my urine at one of my appointments; but since pregnancy can make similar symptoms I think I suffered with a UTI for an unnecessary amount of time. Also after I got results I had the UTI (Thursday morning) I didn’t get medication prescribed till Tuesday of the next week. As a first time mom, there is extra stress and anxiety in pregnancy, save yourself the trouble and go to a midwife in this system with good ratings!!

don’t recommend
I initially really liked donna but then as my pregnancy went on i feel she didn’t care and would just try to get through my appointments. She misdiagnosed with gestational diabetes multiple times she would say i have them then i don’t then i do. She then gave me a strep b swab to take that i was told was expired and they didn’t have me re take it until 2 and a half weeks later which i was positive and should have been on antibiotics for it. I also got covid while pregnant and when i was at the hospital the nurse told me to see my midwife so she can make sure everything is okay and she told me to not come in. She doesn’t seem to know what she’s talking about at times and at my last appointment she told me i was 3cm dilated and the next day when i went to the hospital i was told i was only 1cm dilated. She wouldn’t refill my prescriptions for awhile. Also after giving birth i never got a call or message from her.

Doesn’t put in postpartum IUDs until 12 weeks!
St Joe’s Mid Wives are hard to schedule with and have ridiculous rules like no IUDs post partum until 12 weeks (it’s safe at 4)

Honestly not impressed by the care I've received from Donna during my pregnancy. I conceived through IVF and her lack of knowledge on the subject and typical precautions taken in IVF pregnancies was off-putting. I did not get any blood work or urinalysis until around 20 weeks when I finally asked for it because I thought at least a urine sample was routine at each visit. I had my anatomy scan between visits with Donna and when she walked into my appointment she had no knowledge it was done. I had to fill her in on everything that had happened, including being diagnosed with a previa which would mean a scheduled C-section at 37 weeks. She also gave me incorrect information about this and I had to correct her based on what I was told by maternal fetal medicine. Overall I'm unimpressed and disappointed that I feel like I'm just a checkbox on her to do list for the day. Don't recommend if you're looking for hands on care throughout your pregnancy.

She literally told my husband and I to go home at 36w pregnant with a pregnancy complication, Cholestasis that causes still births between 36-37weeks. Her word are “yes it can cause a still birth but you could have a regular NST and then your baby could die in an hour. We just aren’t prepared to induce you right now” Thankfully we have a beautiful daughter who arrived safely at 36w with an induction thanks to another medical professional.

She has no idea what she is doing. Told me I was having a five month long herpes outbreak with no sores when all my tests were negative. Had multiple other doctors tell me that was insane and not even possible. Turns out it was a bacterial overgrowth and pelvic floor tightness.

Donna is a very caring, considerate midwife. She genuinely listens to questions and always takes my concerns seriously. I think she does a good job walking the middle of the road between medical practice and natural medicine. I highly recommend her!
