Dr. Frank Gardner, OD

During a routine contact and eyeglasses visit, Dr. Frank Gardner saw me. He noted that the part of the exam that looked at the vascular/nerve health at the back of my eye showed symptoms of high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol. Holding both a commercial driver license and a pilots license, that required medical exams annually, I was concerned. The next day I went to see my primary care provider. My BP was 240/114. Panic ensued. I was immediately taken to the hospital where it was discovered I had an infection of my heart tissue resulting in LVH from the high BP. I had no symptoms and no idea my BP was so lethally high. It took a month of meds and tests, but all is back to normal. 120/80 Dr. Gardener saved my life. My Cardiologist says if I would of continued walking around with that level of hypertension, it would of been fatal very soon. Thank you Dr. Gardner. I owe you my life. Ben Fisher

I saw Dr Gardner at Visionworks for a routine eye exam after not having had one for 2 years. While reviewing the pictures, he noticed a tear in my retina. He compared that picture to the one taken 2.5 years ago after a repair for the torn retina and was perplexed how the pictures could appear identical, as if the repair had never taken place. He wrote a detailed description of what he was seeing and sent me to a retina specialist (same one who did the original laser procedure). While the specialist was examining me he commented "That was a good catch by Dr. Gardner". I then had the laser procedure again to do the repair properly. What I was most impressed with was the amount of time Dr. Gardner spent with me, and how concerned he was that I had not been taken care of properly with the previous "repair". Anytime you stop in a Visionworks, they are able to accommodate a walk in for an exam, which is truly outstanding. Dr. Gardner will always have my business.
