Beware. Not advised for anyone young or vulnerable
This nurse practitioner either isn't concerned about her patients wishes, or has no clue to how to deal with inexperienced ones. My daughter is a young adult on the autism spectrum, meaning she is immature for her age. Her previous doctor at this practice, Vida Gynecology, told her she didn't need a vaginal exam until she was intimate with anyone. The physician left the practice & the office put her with the NP. When my daughter explained what the previous doctor told her, and why, & that she didn't want a pap smear, this NP decided to do a full vaginal exam. When my daughter asked if it was really necessary, she was told it was. My naive daughter thought that not having a pap smear meant not having a full exam. Why wouldn't the NP question why she didn't want a pap smear & then explain it to someone who told her she'd never had this type of exam? Or explain what she was actually going to do? My daughter came home extremely upset, as well as in pain. It could have easily been avoided.
