Dr. Gerald Burchert is the best orthopedic surgeon. He took the time to explain to me to explain. He explained why I'm in so much pain with my back. He is a awesome doctor I want to say thank you for a great service. If I had to I would recommend him to anyone. He is friendly he looks you In the eye you can't get any better service then this. Finally an orthopedic doctor who cares about their patients' wellbeing more than their paycheck! I had several years of bad orthopedists, whose minimization led to misdiagnoses and an overall lack of support. I was told I was fine, despite being unable to sleep more than 4 hours consecutively from pain- the result of building problems which were ignored. Dr. Buchert was an attentive listener who saw the links between the events I spoke about rather than try to cherry pick what he thought might be relevant for a preconceived diagnosis. He reviewed facts for himself by ordering diagnostic tests rather than assuming the infallibility of prior diagnoses (which instead of ameliorating only worsened my condition). Dr. Buchert did not rush my appointment, and he explained conditions and treatments thoroughly, in a way that was appropriate for my education level. He also made sure that I was referred to specialists that could look into concomitant issues- finally a more holistic approach!

Gerald exemplifies the highest level of care and the ethical values of Methodist Hospital. He figured out in 2 days what had been my medical mystery for two months. I will be forever grateful to him through the end of my cancer fight.
